Who exactly are "gather's stars"?
Just a drive by, saying hello. Who are the "Gather Stars?"
Maybe Obama. :=)
I see in the rules of The First Chapters Romance Writing Competition that we non-residents of the USA (who are Gather members) have, once again, been expressly excluded from entering the competition. And that is most disappointing. I am aware of the reasons given by Gather for the exclusion but these really don't hold up when scrutinized: I am responsible for declaring to the Australian Taxation Office any income from Gather, and Gather is not compelled to so under Australian law, as I understand this matter. That is, it is my responsibility.
The Gather's Stars group would be doing all 'overseas' members a huge service by at least trying to have Gather address - as a matter of high priority - this now festering issue of inequality on Gather. We are all equally members in fact or Gather has two classes of members. This site is either actually a world-wide, social networking community as Gather promotes or it is not and, if the latter, the fiction should no longer be maintained.
It is well past time that we all can, in fact, participate fully and equally in all aspects of Gather. The Guides championing this cause would be appreciated by all of us who do not live in the USA. By now, there must be many thousands of us.
I yet again raise this issue because I like the concept of Gather being a world-wide community - and it being a site where friends can interact equally as friends. Isn't that the very ethos of American democracy? In Australia, we value a fair go for all.
