Candace? One becomes a vampire not from merely being bitten, but one also has to drink the blood of the vampire who bit her. She must has his blood in her. He's her maker.
Vampires either: a) Bite to feed, draining all their victims blood. Thus killing her/him.
b) Bite to weaken their victim. When they awake, dazed and entranced he continues his seduction and offers himself to his victim. That's how he builds his harem. lol
That's what I've gathered after watching the various vampire movies over the years, anyway. lol
