First let me say I really liked this book. This book hit home with me, I am over weight and trying to diet and can't understand why I am having so much trouble. In reading this book I feel like I learned a lot and am now better prepared to be HEALTHIER. I came away from it with a better understanding of nutrition, why we crave the things we crave, and healthier, nutritious viable substitutes.
In the book from the moment Dr. Miller explained her reasons/motivations for writing the book I was hooked. The story/experience/anecdote was well told and I related to it. She goes on to define indigenous diet keys, such as sweet and salty, and meaty and fatty. She explains how we crave these things due to our ancestors and why. She also describes how we have blown them out of proportion with our diet choices chosing less healthier versions of things and offers alternative solutions.
I love the anecdotes in the book. I found it very interesting reading about the "cold spots" and the health of the people in these areas. The diets of the people were fascinating. I know now some minor changes I can make in my own diet to eat fresher foods and make better choices. I even saw her point as to why organic foods are healthier for us then ones full of antibiotics and other things not good for us. I also love how she stresses repeatedly how important getting enough Omega-3's is. I have been trying to up my family's Omega 3 intake!!! This validated me! LOL
Even if I wasn't dieting though I would have found this to be an extremely interesting read.
I also really loved the recipes in the book. I am so thrilled I now know how to make my own tortillas and there were so many awesome recipes in the book I am really looking forward to trying them with my family. I feel like this book is a valuable tool towards having a healthier life!
This book was well written and packed full of valuable information as well as extremely interesting and I liked it alot and would highly recommend it to others!

yOU CENSORED OUT MY COMMENT ABOUT dORINE. It seems that Dorine trashed me for advocating for the caveman diet in May. Now she wrote an article advocating for an identical diet from our "ancestors". That is very inconsistent. She announced that the Africans ate only blood and milk and no fiber. This is false. Africans also eat plenty of fiber.
Hopefully he will repost his original comment.
You sure made me want to read this one!
