From time to time I take a look at the "Most Discussed" articles for the week on Gather, hoping to find something interesting, provocative or stimulating to read, and possibly to comment on. Surely one could find such an article among those most discussed. Not so. What I found was what might better be described as 'Most Disgust'.
Among the top articles for the week were 10 'word games', directed toward, apparently, 5th graders or below, and all garnering more than 100 points each for the week. Name a 3 letter word, or 4 letter word. It seems that words with 5 or more letters are too difficult. Name a word starting with A, or B, or C, etc. I learned the alphabet in the 1st grade.
I got to thinking (that's something I do when not playing word games). How about a word game for those of us who are smarter than a head of lettuce? What would such a game consist of? How many letters? What letters specifically? What language should the words be in? Here is what I came up with:
Name a word with 8 or more letters in any language other than English. If English is the only language you know then your word must have 14 or more letters.
Rules: You are not allowed to use a dictionary or computer, and you are not allowed to ask your grandparents or your children. Have fun, and let's see how few points I can earn with this bit of stupidity.

But since I'm doing a Tinseltown Trilogy right now, I bet I've used:
Cinematography.
ha ha
my brain is going to have to wait on any rotting until after I finish school..at the rate I'm going, that will be when I'm about 90 and can - hopefully - afford to retire.
Your word game is much better. I wish I had thought of it before you did. :-)
Now I don't feel stupid playing this game. Instead, I feel stupid because I really only speak English (except a few tiny words in Spanish). I'll have to call my mother and father. (That's not cheating because you said I can't ask my grandparents or children.) They went through Catholic schools and had to know Latin.
Except I think I know an English word with 14 letters. But I'm not sure of the spelling, and I can't check the dictionary, right? I'll go for it: TRANSUBSTANCIATION (That's another word you learn in Catholic schools.) That "C" might need to be a "T," I guess, but I'm not cheating and looking it up in the dictionary.
