I made a calander on there last year, then tried to sell it, didn't work for me. I mean, my calendar was awesome, but no one looked at it, hee, hee! There is another site, but I can't remember the name right now...I want to say Blurb, but I don't know if that's right. If I remember, I will look through my stuff later and let you know.
I have used it to create a photo book, calendars, and e-books. The only thing I have ever sold to anyone besides family is one of my e-books. I am overall pleased with their services and quality of the books and calendars printed, but they do not bring in customers except those directly referred by you to your items. What I mean is they do not seem to be a marketplace that brings in traffic that is not being directed by self-publishers to their own items and thus you really cannot expect to sell anything unless you do a lot of promoting it on your own. At least they pretty promptly pay you when you get over the $10 minimum to be paid during the monthly payments.
Marilyn: I know what you mean in that people do have to put high prices on their books to make a profit on them on Lulu. It often makes even my family who really wants the photo book I made to not really want to purchase the amount of copies they originally wanted to, but at least the quality it great.
Well...I'm not so sure about the quality. The last book hubby and I bought from lulu - a friend's book - which cost us almost $45 with shipping!!! - was very poor quality. There were pages falling out. Part of the pages were upside down. And some pages were done in an entirely different font than the rest. Also, the pages were printed almost to the edge - which is certainly not the way it was presented by the writer. I was not impressed with them at all.
Maria, I spoke to Roger Kiser this evening! When I sent him a message, he replied by giving me his HOME PHONE NUMBER!!! What a nice man! He gave me all the pros and cons of his experience with lulu.com and traditional publishing, etc.,

No experience with them. However, at this point Amazon is not allowing self-published books to be sold there, if sold directly through the publisher. I wrote an article about that here.
I haven't heard anything pro or con about lulu.com, but a friend of ours used www.windwhispering.com and his books are doing great. Don't know a lot about it though, but it might be worth looking into. Good luck!
I've done a lot of research on lulu.com and it seems like a good place to publish POD books. I do know a few that have published there and they are very happy with the company.

I've published thru Lulu & am satisfied. The only downsize is that I'm Canadian, & Lulu does not have a distribution program with Chapters.Indigo. I'm currently searching for a distributor willing to distribute one title to Indigo stores. Not an easy task, I'm here to say.
