dedication to my Two Best friends

I travel down a familiar road,

With blue gums still standing tall

Memories flash before my eyes

Filling them with tears that fall

For the loss of two good friends

That by my side stayed for fifteen years

No words between us ever spoken

Just a friendship that couldn’t be broken 

You knew when I was feeling down and beside me you would sit

And nudge your heads under my arms and look at me

With adoring eyes as if to say

We are here. We love you.Let’s play

Your funny antics made me laugh

And in the night I knew I was safe With you both at my side 

Alas the time came to move on

But my heart was saddened because you couldn’t tag along

Nowhere for the three of us to be together

I knew it wouldn’t last forever

Time came to say goodbye

 My heart ached so much that rivers I did cry 

So off to doggy heaven you went

Where others gained what I had lost

A friendship so full of love and devotion

Leaving me to deal with my emotion

Now as I travel down a familiar road

I see you both within my mind

A tear will fall when I think of you

Because I have never had a friendship so true

The best that man could ever want

A friendship with the four legged kind.
