As the owner of POETRY PLAY ON WORDS I love seeing my members go out each week and throw together a maximum 24 line poem or prose using words containing only a three letter keyword that I supply them every Saturday morning.
So by now you're asking yourself why are they doing this. I will tell you. Every Friday I judge each and every poem by a format that's only known to me. The 1st place winner, each weeek, get's three things. 1) They get a paper trophy that they can upload into their poem. 2) They get their winning poem featured on the home page for the entire next week. & 3) Because they got 1st place they are eligible for the tournament of champions to be held the end of August 2007. The winner of that event will get an authgraphed copy of my book "DESTINY OF THE DIVAS" that's scheduled to be published sometime in August by Light Sword Publishing.
Okay, so you are wondering if you're qualified enough. I've seen these poets through four weeks, as this is week five. In that short time I've seen each one mature as poets. I can't even compete with most of them any more.
Out of the 30 plus members, only about 9 are truly active each week. That leaves a lot of room for people just like you, to come in here and try your luck in the poetry realm. You'll also find that our members are some of the friendliest in Gather. They support and encourage each other more than I ever expected.
If you're putting poems out there to be seen, for the sheer joy of putting them out there, join a group that gives you a reason to try harder; gives you a reason to search for better and harder words.
