The Ultimate pH Solution, by Michelle Schoffro Cook, DNM, DAc ISBN 978-0-06-1133643-0
I received this book earlier this month and although it was not one that I had requested I read it first. Michelle Schoffro Cook has spent years researching the positive benefits of balancing the pH of our bodies. Her theory is that if we reduce the acid pH that most people have because of our standard American diet, we will be able to enjoy better lives. We will enable our immune system to fight off disease, have more energy, and in general, we will feel better.
Ms. Schoffro Cook believes changing our bodies pH from acid to slightly alkaline can even help us to lose weight.
I can't argue that this may be so but I found the suggested diet very restrictive. Ms. Schoffro Cook lists many foods as acid or alkaline. She suggests a way to incorporate alkaline foods into our diet and gives recipes and drinks to help change your pH to a slightly alkaline level.
I would suggest you read this book because of it's merit. I'm not sure I can follow a strict alkaline diet and I did find some of the recipes unusual. I can say that the theory of balancing the bodies pH does sound right.

The Book Review
Anyway, thanks for the review.
When you consider that most people don't eat fruit at all and only drink juices that are probalby only 15 percent juice, eating fresh fruit - nature's perfect food - is a great idea.
Sometimes, i will take cranraspberry juice - 100 percent juice - and add limes to it. Tastes like a real rickey. Or, take Rose's lime juice, lime seltzer and squeeze one whole lime. That is healthy.
Sometimes, I take commercial lemonade, which is mostly sugar and the enzymes in the lemons are all dead now, but I squeeze real lemons into it and it is tasty.
Hot water and lemon is great. You can add honey, too.
I squeeze lemons or lime into my organic green tea.
Raisins are very alkaline, so are nuts and legumes. Eating fruits, salads, nuts, legumes - like beans and rice - and some chicken. That is a great day's worth of food and the only things not alkaline are the rice and chicken. So, a diet like that which is slightly modified, is fun, cheaper than mostly meat, and very healthy.
Squeeze lemons or limes into your food and add some olive oil to your meals, too.
I brought lime slices recently to a Thai restuarant where we were eating. I put the limes in the water and squeezed them into our Thai food. The waiters were amused but said it was a great idea.
Studies have been done on 20 restaurants, from high end to low end, and found a lot of fecal matter in their lemon slices. The help is not washing their hands. So you might want to bring your own lemons when you eat out.
I usually have a salad, fried rice, chicken or fish dish when I eat out. Grilled chicken caesar is terrific. Sometimes I treat myself to beef.
So it is not hard to change our eating habits. Nobody is perfect.
