I've been asked, as a bit of "homework" to occupy and expand while Gentleman Loser
is on a long-term hiatus, to come up with a list of 50 albums that changed the direction of my life. The idea is that the three of us will each produce such a list, and we'll compare, and we'll all have to listen to the albums that are not common between any of the lists. This will, hopefully, bring a greater sense of understanding of the contexts we all exist in. We're incredibly close and connected - these guys are the best friends I'll ever have - but there are areas where our tastes and our lives greatly diverge. I'm excited about it, not just to compare the lists but to actually come up with mine. Predictably, I've already created the skeleton of my list, and I'll spend the next few weeks paring it down and adding in the inevitable omissions. I've decided that to help me do this, I will take the list as it is now and write an article on each one. This will help me to justify to myself why it is on the list. There will be more than 50 articles, because I have no doubt that some of this stuff will drop from the list.
I plan on doing one every day or two, which means I'll average about two a week at best, so this is going to take awhile. That's ok, though; I'm going to enjoy taking my time through this. I hope that you all might find something new, and I'm interested to hear what you have to say about my choices.

I can point out precisely the one single album that changed my life: STEREO CONCERT by the Kingston Trio. That record took me quite literally from the obliviousness of childhood to the stirrings of adult awareness.
