If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely
challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn
between a desire to improve (or save) the world and a desire to enjoy
(or savor) the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.

I'm an early riser...always have been. I love those first moments before dawn when I awake and as I lay in bed I think of all the possibilties that lay before me. What will I do today? Oh, there's the routine matters to fill the first hour...make coffee, open cans of cat food for the kitties who are running impatiently between my legs and their food bowls. (Why we have four felines, I couldn't tell you!). Then, of course there's Tuck...he needs his bowl filled with a can of Pedigree...he dances around as I try to figure out this damn can opener that has a mind of it own. By now, the sweet aroma of coffee is filling the room and as I pour the cup, once more I think about the day. It's Saturday...what will I do today? With cigarette and coffee in hand I make my way out to the porch (Papa Bear doesn't allow any smoking in the house.), I ponder, as did E.B.
Should I try to save the world today...should I go to the book talk at the First Church in Cambridge at noon where Sen. Kerry and Theresa Heinz Kerry are reading from their new book, "This Moment on Earth: Today's New Environmentalists and Their Vision for the Future. I was going to go with Mo~ze and Kathryn, two friends from Gather, but that was before Mo~ze got sick and Kathryn had to work. I really should go...Earth Day is tomorrow and this would be an opportunity to learn how others throughout our large country are banding together to help find solutions to pressing enviromental issues.
But then again, the sun is out after a week of rain...do I really want to go to the city and sit in a dark tomb of a church or just for today, do I want to wander out into the natural world and savor it? That is my question today?

A beautiful Spring day has dawned here in New York, also.
It's late now, but I hope you decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and take a walk.............
Wilma and Deb...it was a glorious day to be out hiking...and Tuck thought it too. We completely exhausted poor Papa with our romps through the forest. I took pictures but am having difficulty posting...can't call Will or Zach to "walk me through it AGAIN"... Zach's in Cambridge and Will is in New York for the week-end. Maybe one of them will come home sometime this week.
