Happy Birthday GrandPa

I just wanted to post a Happy Birthday to my grandfather. He was born July 15, 1861. A long time ago. It took 7 years of frustrating headaches to find him. But some family history is finally coming together. Genealogy will drive you NUTS!

He was born on an island in Northern Germany. I must be the only person that inherited any beach genes. Here is the church where he was baptized.

I did bring back a handful of dirt from his hometown and placed it on his grave for a touch of the homeland.

 

After more years, I tracked his father to being in Chicago. I was able to locate and get this picture of the still standing house where great-grandfather lived.

 

Aren't ancestors interesting?
