Poetry Please Single Word Challenge: Resolve - Week 62 - Once More Unto the Breach!

Beautifully done! Your imagery is exquisite. I especially like the line Sharp fingers dragging with them new year's dawn describing the clock's hands.

This is a trove of poetic treasures. I shall only pick a couple that which had really stung me with the precision of a surgeon's needle: "flimsy wings of thought", "flame like Gujarat": simply stunning. Gill, Gill, Gill, go ahead, put on your fire-retardant garment now, I have to let out this blazing breath of indignation for not having thought them out for myself. Argh! Way to go girl. Keep them coming.

I like that the persona of the poem acknowledges the fact that we, insurgents(?) of time, are adamant with the changes and/or complications that time brings as "My heels with all my might and tied with rope/ The clock hands, as if they would not begin".

A fitting, albeit comedic, imagery for people who are caught red-handed with the preoccupations of a time long gone. Reluctant to let go, they will surely do anything to pace down if not stop the onslaught of time.

I squirm as I am guilty of a preoccupation that wears me down in this time-space continuum.

Somehow, the poem made for a stark contrast my own ineptitude with how ill-at-ease I am in my time management and such. But what the heck, it too had reminded me of the hope to be had with the coming year - a new time check: for me to materialize finally that "trip forward...".

I also liked this line . . . "The plans I make on flimsy wings of thought" . . . because it seals the title of the poetic piece.

Geeta, nobody else has mentioned my reference to the historical city, so it's gratifying that you did. I was trying to give a more universal context to illustrate the idea of a future going forward -- hopeful and unknowing -- into certain tragedy, and thought that name could serve as an apt symbol of such a thing.
