Momma, you look beautiful

No reason for you to fret

You've been alone for a time now

You've done nothing to regret

Your dress is very lovely

the color suits you well

I love the way your hair looks too

the mirror shows the truth I tell

I know that you feel a little guilt

Like you're stepping out on Dad

But you needn't feel that way Momma

I know he would be glad

To see you enjoying life again

Since he was called away

Momma don't you realize

That you were left to stay

To take care of me as I grow up

And to love me when I'm sad

To help me to be a woman as you are

Just know that I am glad

That someone very handsome

Has asked you out on a date

He is a very lucky man

And I'm sure he won't be late

Smile Momma, let your heart be light

And spray on some perfume

When he comes in through the door

He'll see you and he'll swoon

Momma, don't you worry

About anything at all

Just have some fun and laugh a bit

I think I hear him in the hall

He's here Momma, put on that smile

He's a gentleman I can see

Have a wonderful time tonight

Don't give a thought to me

I'll hear you when you come in

You can tell me how it was while dancing

And I hope that there is more to tell

He's so handsome, I can see by glancing

The door  has closed behind them

Momma looks so happy, and Dad is smiling down.
