Gossip
Round and round it goes;
Where it stops, nobody knows.
Rampant, vile, vicious lies,
Roll around tongues, pretentious in guise.
Circulate within a domain
To taunt, divide and entertain.
For drivelers of guile with no contemplations,
Quickly deny the need for vacations.
Their time must be spent in idle chat,
Be it circular* in nature, round this or that.
For, round and round it surely must go;
And where it will stop, nobody will know.

"go-sip-sip' eternal as bliss !!!
Great piece, I also heard the silent "Bless her heart..." phrase so common to slingers.
Blessings,
Wilka
Kathy:
Yes, I know that phrase. I loved your humorous repsonse regarding the 'slingers' and the "Bless her heart..." appetizer or desert phrase; usually 'slung' before or after the verbal damage is done. . Good description. Thanks! :)
'Always' a pleasure to hear from you. Thanks so much for reiterating gossip's venomous nature. Although Rockwell magically added humor to the painting of the women in The Three Gossips, in reality, it's consequence is quite the opposite, isn't it! Appreciate your visit.
Truly appreciate your comment. Thank you.
*BTW - I love your avatar.

What a gorgeous birdhouse in the graphic! I appreciate your tasteful choice in graphics; I see them around Gather, and they're always so uplifting and thoughtful. Appreciate your visit! Thanks!
Amazing contrast you've written w/in 12 lines, my friend; and what a powerful truth in its content. Nicely done.
Thank you for your comments. Much appreciated!
"stark message"/"happy melodic flow"... beautifully descriptive words that I really appreciate.
A wonderful way to describe this notorious clause ...but girls do enjoy gossip a lot...me too ...
Hey, I loved the seriousness of your poem...Lighter and heavier, soft and sharp both...
I loved it..
Love you too
This is actually one of my favorite works of Norman Rockwell; his ability to have captured gossip's whimsicality with these three horiffically unattractive women, dressed to the nines, is a true expression of his amazing talent. However, as you say, there is a "heavier" side to gossip; a side that has endless repercussions and heartache for the person being gossiped 'about'.
So appreciate your extensive comments, and your insightful comments. Love 2U!
That's so kind of you. Thank you for having taken the time to stop by and leave your kind comments. Always a pleasure!
Thanks so much!!! So appreciate your stopping by and commenting.
Sounds like you like his work just as much as I. He had a most unique flair, and could capture whimsicality superbly well. I loved reading about your enthusiasm over the Saturday Evening Post. Wow! I know that would've been exciting to anticipate Rockwell's new painting. I agree with you about him being "one of the greatest American artists of all times". He is my favorite.
Thank you, Elsie. Always a pleasure.
Places of employment are notorious for gossip mongerings, aren't they? Rockwell captured the humor of this with his painting, but I'm with you, in that it is indeed 'unfortunate'; for all it takes to remove ourselves from the humor, is to be on its receiving end.
You're such a doll!
Bravo!
