"A Most Unique Delay"

Aliens grace the hills just to the right of the highway;

But I'm driving fast, and have passed the sign that leads off to the byway.

I recognize not the shapes on the hills and find myself in wonder;

For their colorful, flying saucer has crashed and appears to be torn asunder.

I travel on at a lesser speed, and drive to the nearest station,

But my car reacts to the nearing ONE with peculiar hesitation?

An orange peculiarity approaches my car in silence.

I immediately react to this carroty grouch with fear and torrid violence.

It ghostly enters my Chevrolet and proceeds to take over the wheel.

I fight and claw to defeat its rage to control this strange ordeal!

It wins the battle and steals my car, leaving me all alone;

But later returns with pizza and chips to take to its alien zone.

I reenter my car with dreaded zeal, and proceed on my weary way,

Only to find on New Year's Eve, a most unique delay?

Along the hills, to the right of the road, are aliens orange and red

With names like Hank, Ernie, and Sam, Arthur, Harry and Fred.

I now recognize the shapes on the hills just to the right of the highway

But lessen my speed just in case, a sign leads off to the byway.
