“A Prayer for Grace”

I pray for grace from thee, O God;

For solace in times of pain.

Displace from me acerbic thoughts

Whereby there’s naught to gain.

Unbrace my anxiousness of soul;

Replace my grimace with heartfelt joy.

Enlace my thoughts with those of peace;

Emplace your effacement with a spiritual buoy.*

Let shamefaced guilt and traces of guile

Cause me not to depart,

Replace the acetic taste of ire;

With repentance and pureness of heart

Keep the menace of deceit in check,

And facets of sin at bay.

Let waters of complacency

Propel Your Will each day

Unlace the strings

Of my sternness of mind;

And pace my steps

To embrace mankind.

Link an interface of trust

Between me and thee,

And let peacefulness be the hallmark

Of grace’s fathomless sea.
