I posted these pictures as images back when I first joined Gather so if you’ve seen them before, sorry. A friend requested that I repost them so I decided to do so in an article so they are easier to locate than clicking through pages and pages of images.
I’ve always enjoyed painting and drawing on surfaces rougher than then the stand drawing papers and illustration boards.
These are some paintings I did on concrete stepping stones and bricks. I paint the surface first with watered down acrylic outdoor house paint. I water it down so that it seeps down into the concrete better. The artwork is done in artist’s acrylics and then sprayed with abo

Thanks Lera, I'm sure you're sick of seeing them by now!
Thanks Phyllis, you do, you just have to try and keep at it!
I bet you have some very happy friends.
Thanks for showing me these. I'd been looking for an inexpensive and odd medium to paint on, in order to craft unusual, semi-functional items that I might sell at a local knick-knack store. I think you just showed me the light.
Peace and Happy Painting.
Thanks so much Susan. Who is Barnacle Boo?
I think that it is so community sprited of you to do this.
If you should see this comment...kindly tell me what clear coat is. Is it a varnish and is it durable? I mean for pedestrian traffic.
Thank you Dan!
Thanks for the compliment!
The clear coat is wonderful stuff. I used to do some woodburning, and I'd always seal it. The clear coat would bring out the colors too. I'm glad you posted these again.
Yes Donna, and you can get the clear coat for a buck a can at Walmart, then you don't feel bad for using it liberaly, at least I don't - it is good stuff!
Yep Debbie, I reposted them just for you! That one is my favorite as well ;-)
Thank you Debbie G. and Melissa.
Happy Easter!
Got another chance to re visit this article!!! Love all of these actually!!! It's like being in a penny candy store with a dollar bill!!! I wouldn't know what to choose;)
The materials available are endless and you may have to weather your own wood using pickling paints or paint on tar roofing paper like a friend of mine does - your colors against black would be awesome and lighter weight...Salud.
Thanks Sue. :)
I love "The Fish", he is so cute!
Is he for sale? I want him, I want him, I want him now!
yaya
Well Debbie, maybe not EVERYBODY, but thanks.
Thanks Debbie, that is really all that matters! ;-)
