I can relate to this, with everday life there is always a comment here and there that you could say but who really listened and could repeat what you just said!

Thanks, Kelly! That's it exactly. Sometimes I just get to the point where I say why bother... too many people smile and shrug off what you say and forget it a moment later.

I hear you on being heard. Though I can "speak" on here, imagine what's it's like to go a week without hearing your own voice because there's no one there to even talk to.

Thanks, Rob. Having no one around has never stopped me from voicing my thoughts. hehe. I tend to enjoy my conversations with myself more than some of the conversations I have with some of my coworkers. ;-) At least I don't always argue with me... well, sometimes I don't argue with me.

I've always found that when I feel the need to speak and be heard, my truest friends are always there to really lesten and converse with me about whatever. If I have to ask someone if they heard what I said, they probably aren't worth talking to in the first place. Great poem though. I give it a 10.

DragonSoul, you have a good point. The true friends will always listen no matter what. It's everyone else around that tends to tune out what is being said. It's not personal most of the time, they just don't listen to anyone else but themselves. Thank you for your comment!

I really like your poem and I can relate to it! I have days where I feel like why even bother and I have moments when I feel very discouraged. I am bad about not telling people when I need someone to listen. I am a better listener I guess. Even the person who is good at listening to others needs to have someone care enough to listen to them too. The act of reading someone's writing is also "listening" to their words.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Anne. I'm glad and yet sorry that you can relate to it. I know exactly what you mean. I tend to have moments when I'm really quiet and everyone comes to me for advice and to rant and complain about things, but so many of these people that are quick to open up to me aren't patient or willing enough to allow me to speak as well. Everyone needs someone that they can turn to at times. I agree with you also about having our words read here and other places online, in print, etc. is a good way to be heard.
