Remember when we used to chase lightning bugs?
It was twilight, that perfect time between the stresses of the day, and slumber of night. Of course, we were children, so the adults thought we had no stresses. We had 'em, just different. But that's a different story. Lightning bugs are what we are interested in now.
We'd catch 'em and let 'em crawl in the cage of our hands. It was fascinating to see the flashes outlining our flesh. If we were lucky enough to have a jar, well then we would have a homemade nightlight. But there was always one that managed to escape into the house no matter how careful we were.
Can you feel the cool twilight air? Close your eyes. Think back and remember the feel. Remember the smells and sounds. Remember? Let's go. To visit again, just remember.
Remember when...

I love bugs. I think they are so pretty. They come in all different shapes and colors.
I also caught frogs. Those were the days!
Howard-I remember the june bug trick too. Kids don't do stuff like that anymore.
Marilyn- I agree! To spend the day outside in the summer, just playing in a simple way- heaven!
Lora- I'm trying to get my daughter to, but she wants me to do the chasing while she waits on the porch (last summer). Maybe I will have more luck next summer!
Vicky- That's what i was imagining when I wrote this. It was a magic time!
Kathleen- When I was little I had never even heard the fireflies, it was always lightning bugs. Or to use the correct dialect, "lightnin' bugs"!
Terry- weren't they fun? I loved them!
