Last year around this time I wrote an article on Associated Content on how not to go broke buying gifts at Christmas time. Since it seems to be even more of a challenge for people this year I thought I would share the link for it her on Gather, and hopefully it will help some of you out. Here is the article:

Please feel free to leave a comment here and on Associated Content. I would love to hear you tips as well.

I buy thing all through the year, then decide at holiday time who gets what.
I also order various gift cards to fill in the gap.
I often reuse packaging, wrapping and ribbons.
There is a great dollar store near me - many gifts come from there (and no one knows... well, they do now...)
Also - always use loyalty cards - bank cards, gather points, airline miles... they all add up - for gifts for self and others and ways of getting back some of what was spent.
to be honest, a lot of my gifts end up being items that are on the Register rewards deals at Walgreens even!
I buy a load of things on clearance throughout the year too!
