I got my first issue of Teen Trend last month. I have to find the time to get an article up on AC and see what they are looking for. I just got a newsletter the other day too.

I still haven't gotten the last two issues of Teen Trend... and I have travel articles in them plus the advice column. Ohj. Hopefully she sent them this week...

I was at AC this weekend and noticed your article on the front page - congrats. I did some commenting and actually published my first article. I did one for non pay, figured that was good and took the tip from your article. The other one I did for pay and have to see the status on that.

A few questions for you - I used to write for the childrens tv site at bellaonline.com, and they are looking for a new editor. In the meantime my content is still up, so since I submitted two from there I did it as non-exclusive.

Question - can you change something from non-exclusive to exclusive at some point?

can you do referrals when doing a review of a movie or book like with amazon and use that link with the affiliate in it?

I did not for my review and just used amazon as the link.

When I click on comments on my page it does not show any, so I guess that is only for comments on my articles. Is there a place where I can go see the comments I have placed and do we get notified if the author responds to our comments?

I was thinking of selling avon and did a search on it and found two articles that were just awful. one was even rated 1.5 and that was surprising that something so poor would be published. Maybe it was not for pay and that was why?

Can you publish to both AC and Gather

If you publish as non-exclusive, then yes you can also put it on Gather. I have done that several times.

Bonnie... comments are an issue. You do not get notified if someone responds, and there is no way to track where you have left comments.

You cannot change anything once the article has been published, unless you notice a glaring typo or something, then you have to email Sam and ask him to edit it for you.

No idea on the referal links. I just put the link to the item (book, movie, whatever) you can try it though and see what happens.

Exclusive only means you can not post the same article somewhere else, Barb. I generally check NON-exclusive so I keep the rights.

Pay and non-pay are pretty self-explanatory. Some things they will not buy. I publish those for non-pay, non-exclusive so I can get the hit bonus off the article.

Lori, I wanted to say thanks again for this article. One, it did get me off my duff and I finally did another piece. Two, using your promoting yourself with the bookmarking sites tip, I added a bit to my bonus and also used the same for articles that I have via triond.

Do you make more off the hit bonus than the pay up front?

Yes, actually. I am pulling in about 30 USD per month on the hit bonus alone and it is steadily increasing about a buck or two each month... even though I haven't posted a thing there in a few months.

I'm signed up at AC, but I'm working more with eHow at the moment. I'm trying to learn how to walk and chew gum at the same time (reuse content at more than one site). If you can find a different angles on the same basic concept you can make an idea pay in more ways than one

that is great. I really like AC - quick cash when I need it within a week or so, the bonus payments come in even when I am lazy and don't do anything for a few months, and it is nice ot have an outlet for writing whatever you want to write

AC is great.  Is it still working out for you, because they have recently made quite a few changes!

Yep. Haven't written anything in well over a year there and still making almost 50 USD per month off them.
