Paula. I read your story. Enjoyed it a lot. You have a lot of helpful ideas there too. My wife and I have two boys at home. One just moved out to be on his own again. The older one is still with us. He will be moving soon.They have both been away from home. But we always stayed in touch. We like being close. But due to my age . I feel that I need to be near my family. I have 2 brothers and three sisters. I lost an older brother to cancer. My twin had a triple bypass about a year ago. I feel that he needs help .That means the boys and us will be about 1800 miles apart.My wife wants to move too. But there are going to be a lot of tears. Excellent story thanks for sharing.

Wonderful article. I have two little girls (7 & 3 1/2) and can't imagine what it will be like when they are old enough. Thanks for sharing this.

so close to home! I have two already out and another going in august(one is 26 the other is 22 and in the navy, the next one is going to be 18) I will dropping her off in August and I know it is going to be hard...again. The real challenge will be in four years when my baby leaves.

I always wondered how it would be when my oldest son left home. His first time was to be an exchange student in Italy. Fortunately my sister came to visit that same day and I had to pick her up at a ferry terminal. I cried most of the way there (about an hour) and then I got distracted by her visit. I heartily recommend filling the gap of that hole with someone else, especially someone who can commiserate with you! It was also hard when he got home because his Italian mom wanted to keep him, and didn't trust that I was a good enought mother until she came to visit!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahha
