TIP: Your government websites, state calendars, and non-profit organizations are a great place to pick up news ideas.
If you are like me, (I'm often behind the eight on watching the local news, so late at night and I haven't written many news articles in the past), but I surf the state channels for info and updates, then write about anything that might catch my attention. I don't duplicate what is already written, I take one idea from the news and then do my own research to put together a fresh spin on what I read and so far, this has been working well.
