Did you take your multivitamin today? Some days I'm good and I remember, other days I forget,
so I intend to make a dedicated effort to 'Take My Daily Vitamins', as part of my I Resolve To . . . Challenge: 365 Resolutions For Health & Happiness. Why not join me? The objective is very simple: Do at least one thing each and every day to promote health and happiness for 'YOU'. Banish the 'Someday, Someday, Someday Syndrome'. Instead, make every day New Year's Day. Make every day count. The list of possibilities is infinite and can be tailored to your own dreams, resolutions and daily goals. If you need some help - a little nudge, a bit of inspiration, tips, advice, and news about the best ways to make resolutions a reality - please use IResolveTo.Com as one of your resources. One of the things I am doing to improve my track record with vitamins is to write down what I am taking every day. I already track my daily exercise on my calendar. Since 2005, when I did a one-year mini-case study on my resolution to exercise for 30-minutes daily, I've been tracking exercise on my wall calendar with foil stars and happy faces. I also tracked my case study on my first blog: ACreativeLife - and I'm happy to say that I showed up on my blog every day and exercised more than 80% of the days that year. Writing things down truly does help to keep you accountable, and generates positive forward momentum, when you're working hard to achieve dreams, resolutions and goals.
In this case, I am tracking my vitamins. In addition to my multivitamin, I'm being careful to take a Vitamin D supplement, B Complex, and chocolate calcium chews (added incentive to take my vitamins since I love chocolate). My doctor has been testing Vitamin D levels in my blood and it's a bit low, so I'm trying to get a little more sunshine along with the supplements. While Vitamin D is found in a variety of foods, like fortified milk, sunlight is a major source of Vitamin D. That's another good reason to get outside for fresh air, moderate sunshine, and exercise via walking, biking, swimming, gardening, or your sport of choice - there are so many different options!
Since I'm a chocolate lover I also try to keep things interesting with my favorite vitamin-laced power bars (chocolate, of course), smoothies with Whey protein powder, and other supplements like Omega-3 Fish Oil, and Flax Seed Oil. I'm trying to come up with a healthy mix of vitamin supplements that is simple, and contributes to a healthy diet each day, but doesn't replace fruits, vegetables and other foods that should be providing most of my vitamins and nutrition. As always, knowledge is power when you're working to achieve a resolution, or daily goal. I did my homework and found an assortment of cedible information that helped me to create a 'vitamin-mix' that works for me via advice from my doctor, books, and articles from credible medical sources.
