Salutation To The Dawn
Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendor of achievement,
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is just a vision,
And today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore to this day!
Such is the salutation to the dawn.
Kalidasa (Classical Sanskrit poet and dramatist)
To all my Gather friends - may 2009 bring you a year of "Todays" where your minds are focused on truth, your hearts are overflowing with love and your hands are busy putting these into action.
Peace.

Anyways, thanks, Sheryl. I hope the same for you. : )
See, Sheryl... I READ your articles.
The glory of action,
The splendor of achievement,
And they say English is not as glorious a language as some?
Thanks for this ...and wishing you the same for the new year!
*waving at Lainie*
Ah, I wrote the part below the poem's author's name, Kalidasa. I hope that's impressive, too.
I'll save Joseph the comment: "Yeah, Doyle."
Hopefully, it's a good translation of the original Sanskrit.
(Have you guys used up all your reading allotment for the year?)
Regardless, happy new year.
Perhaps I can try to shorten it further. I didn't think it was long, but apparently it is too long for some people to read thoroughly.
Happy New Year, Nippy.
(Even better, I have hope that this won't be an empty wish this year.)
Look to this day
It's another day of life.
It probably won't be any good.
Blessings and thank you for the beautiful poem and sentiments.
"Life Sucks".
Have a good one pooch. Catch ya' in '09.

It's very lovely in its entirety. Thanks for this gift of words.
Happy New Year's Day!
Jack E - thanks for sharing the New Year's celebration over Saturn.
Doyle - you and 'darling' have to sort that all out yourselves. Glad you read the whole thing, though. :-)
Ishbel - Happy New Year! And Scots should be applauded for thier foresight.
Sandy - thanks for stopping by - best wishes for the coming year!

Thanks, Aniko - also for the clarification on the grammatical use of the hyphen.
