Amber Alert: 13 Year Old Missouri Boy by Bob B

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department issued an Amber Alert on January 9, 2007 after the child was apparently abducted while walking home from school in Beaufort, Missouri. It is 50 miles southeast of St. Louis.

William "Ben" Ownby, 13 years of age. He was taken at Buth Laneand Wild Rose Lanein Beaufort at 3:30 P.M.yesterday. Ownby is described as 4 feet 11 inches tall, white male, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing glasses, a Rams hooded windbreaker and blue jeans.

We have no suspect information available at this time.

The vehicle may be a white compact truck with a camper shell possibly a Nissan or Chevrolet S-10. It was last seen headed east on U.S. Highway 50 from Beautfort.

I saw this on the news tonight. I hope and pray that this boy comes home safe and real soon. There are far too many child abductions happening in the US these days and the outcome usually isn't good.

thank you everyone who commented on this article, Emmett's and Bob's and whoever else took the ball and ran with it! I'm proud to be a member of gather and say that the members stepped up to the plate and got the word out as they did. You are all a fantastic group of people and I know the parents and law enforcement appreciate all you have done to help. Abductions are a part of everyday life unfortunately but together we can make it a lot harder for the "creeps" to get their hands on the kids!

I just saw on Fox News that Ben was found! Praise the Lord!!!! Our prayers are answered in an even greater way than we could imagine...a boy named Shawn that was kidnapped in 2002 was found in the same location!! Great is the Lord. I am over joyed. Congratulations to the team of investigators and volunteers that worked so hard to find them. You make us all feel safer.
