In 2007, I hereby resolve to spend more time on my writing, specifically, my healthcare articles.
In the latter part of 2006, I let personal dilemmas and job related attitudes come between me and my love of writing. I resolve to never let this happen again.
I have been a nurse for twenty five years, and I feel I have something to offer the world in the way of my knowledge, outlook and experience. Granted, the lion's share of my personal experience has been in the field of Geriatrics, but I also have a wealth of knowledge on topics more suited to a younger demographic. While my "Your Granny's Nurse" articles have been well received, I feel I need to broaden my horizons and write about more topical subjects, thus broadening my reader base.
This does not mean I will neglect "Your Granny's Nurse". This series is an important, although recently, neglected, part of my life. These pieces have even captured the attention of The Ohio HealthCare Association (OHCA), whom have asked me to be a keynote speaker at their 2007 convention, in May of this year. I will be speaking on Compassionate Care of the Elderly. The program is entitled "Your Granny's Nurse".
This is an incredible opportunity for me, and quite an honor. OHCA only picks approximately one third of all speaker requests to speak at the three day conference, so this serves as testimony that others may benefit from my personal experience and views.
I resolve to hone my craft, and expand my horizons.
I resolve to write at least two pieces per month on a variety of topics related to healthcare, and at least one "Your Granny's Nurse" piece per month.
You, my dear Gatherers can help me in my pursuits by giving me honest feedback on my pieces. I would also appreciate your input for future topics.
Finally, I resolve to make 2007 the year I make personal strides in my goal to make a living with my writing and speaking skills. I am however, realistic, and I know this goal will not completely come to fruitition in 2007, but I resolve to make a good deal of headway in my dream.
I'll keep you posted.
*Each of the above links will lead to a different "Granny's Nurse" piece.

Thanks to the both of you, and Clare, I am still a little astonished that I was chosen. Now, if I can just keep from bombing..
Keep on sharing!
Thank you for the support, but franky, I already blew it. I only posted one health article and one "granny" piece in January. I vow to do better...
