Realizing My Dream in 2007

My life's dream has been to visit Alaska. There has always been some obstacle that prevented me from getting there. Part of the problem was that I wanted to see so many areas of Alaska that it was not possibe for me to get enough time off or funds to go. So I kept putting it off until I could do it all.

But I have made my 2007 resolution that I will finally realize my dream. I cut down and replanned my trip so as to make it do-able. I will see two areas this year and then start to plan the next smaller trip - in 2-3 years.

I look forward to sharing my trip on the Alaska travel group here when I get back!

Hi Christine - I just found this article. I'm such a bad group owner :( I haven't been active on gather much, but I am very passionate about Alaska. Where are you planning to go this summer? I've only been to the Inside Passage . . . we're saving other parts for future trips. I'm not sure if you've considered this, but one option that you may want to look at is a cruisetour. It combines a cruise through the Inside Passage & Prince William Sound with a land tour to Denali, Fairbanks, Talkeetna. There are also options to go to the Yukon, Wrangell St. Elias, the Kenai Peninsula and even the Arctic. Let me know if you have any questions, as I edit AlaskaCruises.com, so I know a lot about it.

Hi Kat,
We're going to Anchorage and Homer. We'll do 4 days in Anchorage with day trips to Talkeetna and Eagle River. Then a day drive down the Kenai Peninsula to Homer.

Next time I hope to do the Inner Passage.

That sounds great. That's a part of Alaska I haven't seen yet. Sounds like you'll be hitting all the best spots. I hope you share some pics and descriptions when you come back.

Absolutely! I bought myself a gift of a digital camera in Dec in anticipation of the trip.

Since my daughter and I will probably be the only people in Alaska NOT fishing...(LOL) I'll have plenty of time to look for the perfect shot!! :)

I plan to put together an online collection of them when I get back. And I'll be happy to share any recommendations with you then.
