I began reading many of the New Year's Resolutions posted by fellow Gatherites! I agreed with the many who admit to past failure to KEEP the resolutions for more than a few days, and didn't really see the point of adding to previous failures!
Then, suddenly, I realized that I do have a resolution. And it's one that I must keep. It's a make or break kind of resolution. As an over-fifty college student, preparing to become an Elementary School Teacher, I have resolved to overcome my fear of Math! I have always hated math. It has never been an easy subject for me. My strategy has been to avoid it at all costs, and when pushed, use a calculator!
However, with all the testing that I have to successfully complete before I can become certified as a teacher, I am forced to develop a friendlier attitude toward this subject. With all of it's pros and cons, I know that teaching is meant to be my last career change. I cannot, and will not, fail to succeed!
So, in a nutshell, my New Year's Resolution is to conquer Math!!

Best of luck, if you decide to pursue a teaching career, Autumn!! And thanks for the encouragment! I'll definately need it!
Happy New Year!!
I wish you all the very best in carrying out this resolution. I hated Maths too. I found being restricted to ten fingers and ten toes a very difficult handicap!
You have no idea how many times I re-counted those fingers!! I don't recall ever removing the shoes and socks to make use of the toes, though! LOL. And thanks for the good wishes!
Donna,
X may be the death of me!! Some people seem to know this character referred to as X, on a personal basis. Unfortunately, X and I are not playing on the same team! And you're right...those who do know, don't seem inclined to share! But I do have a secret weapon. A math professor and I have become friends...and when dealing with X, you need an insider who is aware of his nasty tricks!
Have a wonderful New Year!
Sandra, I agree with you totally and completely!!!
David, It was easier that way too! I really don't like spreadsheets, either. The only math class I ever liked was an Accounting class. I just thought it was really cool to play with those two columns of numbers till they finally matched!! Success!
