A Resolution to Share Passion

It's been my experience that many people are afraid to make a New Years resolution. I've studied human nature most of my life and have come to the conclusion that most of that fear or reluctance is due to lack of passion.

So many times, when I make reference to "feeling passion" to others, they think immediately of sexual passion - not realizing the importance of feeling passionate about other things in life. We've been conditioned to be neutral and complacent in our views. That is why this year I resolve to awaken as many people I come into contact with as possible to the vivid colors invoked in the mind by daring to feel passionate about life!

One of the most simplistic ways to help others test the waters of passion is to teach them to appreciate contrast. Without contrast we cannot appreciate the variety of senses we have been blessed with. ie; without heat we would not know cold, without darkness we would not realize how bright the light of day is - even when it is still but a hint of dawn in the early morning sky. And, most importantly, without understanding that there is a fine line between love and hate, we would never know the sweetness of joyous contentment in a relationship. Once people get to know and feel comfortable with contrast they soon become more curious to learn more about passion.

Passion is shared and taught and learned by allowing our innermost emotions come out uninhibited and freely - tempered by the will to make sure that we dont hurt others in the path of our expression. When we converse with another and really listen and reflect to them what they are saying - when they respond to your attention by deeply feeling what is intended or being explored - that is when the flame of passion for life is ignited. It will continue to burn more inside the soul the more it is expressed and heard.

My resolution this year is to incite a riot of passion around me - wherever I go. To lead people into their thoughts and allow them to be heard. Many people keep passion banked inside them simply due to the fact that nobody will truly take time to listen. It's amazing what a small amount of your time and attention can give to one who has been on hold for life and wants desterately to "feel life" rather than be an observer.
