All my life I've been fascinated by scenes and stories about Italy ... primarily Tuscany. I imagine myself staying in a small house on a hillside just off a dirt road. Someplace that I can call home for a few weeks (or maybe a month) and soak in the beauty, culture, and language. I imagine either taking day trips to Florence or spending the afternoon outside reading a book. A big part of the time will be spent entertaining house guests, cooking dinners, and drinking wine outside on laughter-filled evenings.
Over the last 17 years I have spent most of my time working and have invested most of my money into my house. My resolution this year is to put off all home projects and invest my money instead in renting my dream vacation home in Tuscany this fall.
Arrivederci!

You will certainly find your time spent there worthwhile. Don't miss out on seeing Siena. There is a Pension there with the most magnificent views I would highly recommend. (Here's the link http://www.emmeti.it/Welcome/Toscana/Senese/Siena/Alberghi/Ravizza/index.uk.html)
There is also a little town called San Gimignano that serves "town pizza" to all of the locals each Wednesday night during the summer months. If you are not a resident of the town, they invite you to join them for a small fee and it's a family style pizza party. That was one of my fondest memories.
Have fun!
:)
Happy 2007.
When I rented a villa in Tuscany, I used homebaseabroad.com. They are fantastic.
We would love to go there, too. We have put it at the top of our list, now that we've
re-read Frances Mayes. All three of her books on Tuscany are excellent reading. Loved the local recipes tucked inside the enticing pages of memory and delightful experience.
The fact that you are making your resolutions come true is a real inspiration. Thank you.
