Last year I made a full list of resolutions for myself come New Year's and I am happy to say that I did actually accomplish a few of them, though not all. And I actually accomplished a few big things this past year that weren't on my initial list, but I'm proud of them just the same. The biggest thing is that I learned how to knit. A friend at work really took me under her wing and in about six weeks she taught me all that she knew and I have a fabulous hat to show for it. I even made another one for my sister as a Christmas gift.
This year I'd like to focus on just a few things, rather than the long list I had last year. I'd really like to get my life organized, my body healthier, and I'd like to become more well-rounded. Thus the following list.
1. Read more books. Try to read at least a book a week.
2. Organize my older photos into scrapbooks. I love scrapbooking, but I have so many pictures from my childhood that really need to be organized and put into books. It's a little overwhelming, and definitely a big project, but I'd love to really work on this in 2007.
3. Finish my screenplay. Ok...like so many people I know who have started a book or screenplay, they just haven't finished it. Mine has been in the works for just about two years now and it's time to finish it. Even if the screenplay isn't that great, it would be a huge accomplishment. And it's always easier to tweak a "finished" product.
4. Take a real vacation. I went to Bermuda with my family in 2005, but I didn't take a real vacation in 2006. I want to travel this upcoming year, maybe to a new city in the US or to a fun foreign destination, or maybe I'll just to visit my grandparents in Florida. I just need to treat myself to a real vacation this year, even if it's an inexpensive trip.
5. Get into shape. I live in New York City, and I walk everywhere, which is fantastic. But I'm still in pretty bad shape when it comes to walking on anything other than flat surfaces, and two flights of stairs could kill me. I'd really like to kick-up my fitness level to benefit my overall health and my body image.
6. Go see WICKED on Broadway. This is so easy...and I've wanted to do it for years...I just need to buy the tickets.
Everything on my list should be fun, so I'll have no excuses this time next year if all of these things aren't accomplished. Wish me luck!
