Welcome to Gather’s New Year’s Resolutions Group
It’s that time of year when snow starts to fall, family and friends reminisce about the past year, and people make their plans for the New Year. We at Gather thought it would be fun to have a group devoted to the resolutions that people make, with the hope that fellow Gather members will keep an eye on your progress.
Since a lot of resolutions have to do with self-improvement, money or intellectual efforts, we thought we would start the year off with a reward to our best resolution writers.
Here how to particpate:
- Join the New Year’s Resolutions group at http://resolutions.gather.com
- Write an article describing your resolution, and how you plan to stick to it
- Publish your resolution to the New Year's Resolutions group
- Cross your fingers!
Starting on January 1, Gather’s Editorial Team will review the resolutions submitted to us daily, and will pick the best of the bunch. It could be a great reason for the resolution, a well written promise, or something that makes us chuckle – just be creative, and think of something you have always wanted to achieve.
If your resolution is selected, it will be featured both in the New Year’s Resolutions group and on the Gather Home Page! You will also receive a $50 Borders gift card in the mail about 1 week after your entry appears – enough for you to get started on achieving the results you are striving for. Remember, with that kind of visibility, we will expect you to report back on your progress!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year

Just so you know I created a group in Nov that is called New Year Resolutions and it is located at http://newyear.gather.com
I also resolve to play more games with my children. I'm going to set aside a family game day where we all sit down and spend a certain amount of time playing together each weekend :)

I do want to remind you that to participate in the program outlined above, you must write an article and submit it to the group. Unfortunately, we cannot accept comments as it would not be possible to feature them on the Gather home page. If you want to enter, please write an article with your resolution and why you have set the goal for the new year. We will start posting the winners on January 1.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact member services at support@gather.com, or send us a message at gathereditorial.gather.com.
Thanks, and good luck!
David, Editor in Chief
Life comes at us so fast and the people we all know have things happening in their lives just as we do. Life is so easy to get caught uo in that we are often lost in our own. I vow to try to help others as much as possible maybe than mine won't seem so overwhelming at times.
So I resolve to live my life next year with grace, serenity and and diginity..or at least I'm going to try to.
oh..and to lose 5 lbs because there's this pair of pants at the mall that i really gotta have..*gmao
This will allow me to live life - personal and professional - to the fullest, and enjoy the journey, not just to be focused on the outcome.
To work on getting my health back to a semi normal state by trying to eat healthier and exercise a little more. Since I am on disability and money is near none existent I will resolve to keep my budget a little tighter and not borrow money unless its an absolutely a necessity.
I also resolve to be more emotionally there for my children who need a bit of guidence through their begininng of adult dramas
This year will also be the year I get my physical world in order now that I have insurance again. I've already begun to address problems. Every month or so I plan to see my doctor about one of the other small things. I've been working on my diet all year, but have slipped badly the past two months.
The one major change I want is to take up meditation. I have way too much stress in my life and I need to reduce it. I think if I solve that one, the rest will fall into line.
My resolution is to not cater to my child nor feel that I have to buy him much of what he wants any longer. He has more toys than he knows what to do with now. He is a very smart boy but when it comes to life skills and what matters most, he obviously has no clue. I blame myself for this. I have decided that our family is going to find some venue to volunteer at on a weekly basis so that he can see that there are more important things in life than material things. I don't doubt that he loves us but I believe that he's gotten the wrong impression from me what love and caring really is.
(Oh yeah - I also vow to lose 30 pounds!!!!)
I am getting peeved.
i resolve to get more exercise and have more fun..
so I RESOLVE THAT IN 2007 I WILL GO OUT TO SEE LIVE MUSIC AND DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK..
i can do this...!!!!!!!!
now we have to face 2007,(i'm going to usher the new year with hope)
there may be risks involved,(i'm going to face them dear)
we need to face roadblocks, (here in india, it's craters)!
so stay alert,(you bet)!
share time with friends,(my friends are all busy)!
jump over obstacles,(my weight is over 100 kilos! How do expect me to jump over obstacles)!
with care,(i'll rather spend time with friends!
and caution,(let me enjoy atleast one month before i throw cauttion to the wind)!
face challenges,(you bet)!
remember to laugh,(friends refer me as a 'clown')!
cooperate,(i'm a glutton)!
discover,(i'm game)
make new friends,(i'm so good at that!
above all...be ready for adventure,(i ran 200 yards the other day...there was dog chasing me)!
stick together,(that's why we have gather, right folks!
and you will be able to go far...very far...not to alaska, my dear!(i don't have a visa)!
always take time to smell the flowers,(invariably i have this nose is blocked)!
don't forget to relax and enjoy,(that's why my weight is 100 kilos)!
and don't forget those who love you.(as long as you promise one thing...food! Good food)!
I plan to reserrect myself by endorsing what i stated. it's a different case if i develop amnesia! Don't blame!
sportingly yours,
richard!
I've been a quadriplegic since 1995, & started Cynthia's Hope Fund over a year ago to raise donations to pay for a proven experimental stem cell procedure to help me regain enough movement to live independently - possibly even walk again. The olfactory ensheathing cell (OEC) transplant uses stem cells from the nasal cavity to inject around the injured area of the spinal cord, promoting nerve regeneration. It is only offered in China at this time, where I'm scheduled to arrive on Nov. 5th of this year. So, my New Year's resolution is to raise the rest of funds I need to pay for the stem cell procedure, travel, room & board for my mom & me, plus pre- & post-operative therapy. Last year we raised about $25,000. This year we need $45,000 more. (See http://www.cynthiashopetrustfund.com)
Since 1996, I've been working on an autobiography about my life before I was paralyzed, & how much it has forever been changed since becoming a quadriplegic. I vow to finally finish it this year - hopefully with a happy ending!
Sorry so long, if you're still reading. Have a wonderful 2007. God bless! -- Cindy :-)
