Sorry all. I’ve recently moved and have not had time to keep up with this, much less my website. That aside, here we go:
“DOA: Dead or Alive” – From Cory Yuen (“The Transporter”) comes a movie about a group of women who join a martial arts competition only to have their powers usurped to create an army of super fighting individuals. It looks and sounds like a video game. Wait a moment!... Jaime Pressly and Devon Aoki star. Opens June 15, 2007.
“Captivity” – Someone kidnaps Elisha Cuthbert and a chauffeur. Then, they’re tortured. Too bad Jack Bauer can’t save her… Opens June 22, 2007.
“You Kill Me” – Ben Kingsley is an alcoholic hitman who is sent to AA in San Fran where he befriends Luke Wilson and falls in love with Tea Leoni. There are worse things… Opens June 22, 2007.
“Sicko” – Michael Moore is back and this time, its personal; actually, medical. Moore takes on the task of investigating the healthcare system and why even though our employers are getting kickbacks, pharmaceuticals are on the rise, and we pay more and more for our medical insurance, that we still have to get our ambulance rides pre-approved during unconsciousness. Opens June 29, 2007.
“Interview” – Steve Buscemi is a political columnist sent to interview an actress played by Sienna Miller. Buscemi directs. I can’t think of anything witty to say… Opens July 13, 2007.
“I Know Who Killed Me” – Lindsay “Am I out of rehab yet?” Lohan plays a young stripper who is kidnapped for two weeks, then release. I guess rehab IS getting tougher. Opens July 27, 2007.
“Rush Hour 3” – Tucker and Chan are back, and this time in Paris. The third and final outing, I hope. Opens August 10, 2007.
“The Signal”- A mysterious signal causes people to go insane and start killing. See also “The X-Files,” and others that have used the storyline. Thank God it’s opening in August, when no one will be going to the movies (except “Bourne 3”). Opens August 10, 2007.
“The War” – They murdered his partner and is family, now Jet Li wants revenge. Whatever happened to, “This is the last Jet Li movie?” Opens September 14, 2007.
“Heartbreak Kid” – Ben Stiller marries a woman only to find that she’s a psycho, and then falls in love with another woman. The Farrelly bros. direct, so this is a toss-up. Opening October 5, 2007.
“The Golden Compass” – A 12-year-old girl receives a compass that brings her to a parallel world on the brink of a war. Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, and Eva Green star. Opens December 7, 2007.
