My very favorite film of 2006, The History Boys, is now out on DVD, and I strongly recommend it to you. This is such a rich film. I believe that the more intelligent you are the more you will find in it to enjoy. Thus, I doubt Bush would enjoy it at all.
Other enjoyable films now on DVD: Volver, Borat, Little Miss Sunshine, Blood Diamond, Casino Royale, Notes From a Scandal, Children of Men, The Departed, The Prestige, Flushed Away, Happy Feet and (not on my list since I saw it in 2007) Fast Food Nation. The Queen should be out soon, and it is great.
The films currently in theatres which we really liked were THE NAMESAKE and THE LIVES OF OTHERS.
P.S. If you want more information on the films recommended above, look up my January Gather article on My 20 Favorite Movies of 2006.

As a play, it won the Olivier Best Play award in London and its star won Best actor. It then did the same with the Tonys in New York. Wonderfully, this film has the complete original cast, along with an obscure, terrific Brit actress I have always loved, Francis de la Tour. Hollywood doesn't make stuff this rich.
