LEFT OF THE RIGHT: President Bush’s Last News Conference... “Sometimes You Have (Misunderestimated) Me”

January 12, 2009 01:39 PM EST (Updated: January 14, 2009 04:15 PM EST)

In the last news conference President George W. Bush held as president he did not disappoint those who have come to relish the mutilation of the English language that has come to be one of the trade mark quirks that define our outgoing President. Who could ever forget words like "strategery" or "hispanically" and "subliminable." And of course "nucular" which has been mispronounced by many politicians. But what many do not know is that the 43rd president actually pronounced the word nuclear as "nucular" on purpose. That's right, despite the resignation by his vocal coach, GW mispronounced the word purposefully because he thought it made him sound folksy. His vocal coach said it made him sound like an idiot.

But the most revealing thing about this last news conference was that George W. Bush is as delusional today as he was the day he took office. Remember phrases like "compassionate conservative" and "I'm a uniter not a divider." Oh, by the way "uniter" isn't a word either. Turned out that they were just words because if he did have any actual intention of being these things, he failed miserably.

Our outgoing president still believes that his foreign policy was correct and states emphatically that he has no regrets. While acknowledging that being wrong about the existence of WMD's in Iraq was disappointing he still clings to the idea that by introducing democracy to the region the result will be more stable, western friendly governments in the Middle East. Bush calls it "introducing" democracy, but the people of that region are more likely to refer to it as having it shoved down their throats at gunpoint. I wonder if Bush 43 has ever contemplated the fact that a democratic country WAS established in the Middle East way back in 1948 and the most significant result has been pretty much a constant state of war in that region ever since. And that when we established a democratic government in Iraq the region had become even more violent and unstable.

Another delusion Bush revealed was when he was defending the Federal governments role in the aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans. He chided critics who called the governments response to that disaster slow by reminding everyone that "30,000 people were plucked off roofs the next day." Well, I'm not sure about the 30,000 figure, but does it not occur to him that maybe, just maybe those folks should have been evacuated "before" that hurricane hit. Apparently he does not remember that those with means were gone long before the storm hit. That those who had to be "plucked" from their roofs were there because they were poor and had no way to escape because the "government" was in reactive mode instead of proactive mode.

Another of Bush's delusions has to do with his tax cuts. In the news conference he defended the cuts claiming the economy would be in worse shape if they had not been made. To this correspondent it is very sad that the Republicans simply cannot be honest about their obsession with tax cuts. They pay lip service to the idea that tax cuts are beneficial to the economy in general, but their true motivation is the ideology that taxes represent a redistribution of wealth. And to the political Right, that amounts to theft.

But Bush's most significant delusion had to do with a question posed about why he thought many of his critics were so passionate about their opposition. In his answer Bush cited that he had met with many who opposed his policies but were civil about it. He did acknowledge that "some" were angry, but he could not answer as to why. Mr. soon to be ex-President, do you think that perhaps sending over 4,000 of our citizens to die in an ideological war might have angered a few? Or perhaps the fact that you've bankrupt our moral reputation internationally and set the causes of environmental protection and human rights back by decades could have angered a few? The bottom line is that the outgoing president doesn't get it. He didn't get it when he came into office and he doesn't get it now. Being stupid is not a virtue regardless of how folksy it is.

Taxes do redistribute wealth. The poor and middle class are taxed and the money is given to the rich. Haven't you noticed that? Remember the bailout? Who got bailed out? Where did the money go? (I know, even Congress is having trouble "following the money" on that one.)

Purposely not pronouncing words correctly to sound "folksy" is disingenuous. It's a symptom of their entire mindset. Deceit. That's the problem with this entire crew of GOP thieves. Well...part of it. The fact is he and his corrupt little crime family of henchmen have raped this nation, taking both blood and money, for vile, low-life and despicable purposes. He should be forgiven by Christians and hated by others. He's contemptible. Let's hope the door doesn't whack him in the ass on his way out!

There is absolutely no way I will ever believe that this man graduated from Yale University (1968) and from Harvard Business School (1975) on his own merits.

There's no way he could have presented a passing verbal presentation with his mutilation of the English language.

And since many people write similar to the way they speak, there's no way he could have passed any writing requirements to graduate from Yale or Harvard.

I don't believe it. I just don't believe it. I graduated from Rutgers University and would have never made it out of there with this man's reading and writing skills.

I believe his family influenced these 2 highly regarded institutions to just give George a passing grade.

I don't believe it. I just don't believe he did it on his own.

When my kids were toddlers they made up words, too.

As I said on another article, the man is either a total idiot or a sociopath. I'd like to see him on the stand at the World Court. Then, let's see how he fares.

You know this article brought to mind a conversation I had over the weekend with my father - in - law. The focus of our conversation being politics and with he and I pretty much on different sides the topic of Sarah Palin was brought up. She too also tried her best to just seem to be speaking folksy. I have a tendecy to belive that is just her and she sounded out and out ignorant. Bush has never come off to me as someone who truly deserved his position or took the interest of the American people to heart.

Also over the weekend there was a special on CBS Sunday Morning show about some historians feeling his defining moment was response to 9-11. I agree a response was needed but this war was not. I will be glad when he is gone. I hope there is no misunderstanding about that.

The only good thing that came out of this press conference is that it was his last one. Granted he did admit to some mistakes, something rarely heard from him, but mostly still a denial to see the truth of his time in office. A complete and utter failure.

On a positive note, the NY Times article this weekend did show he did something right. He denied Isreal the access to bombs, refueling capability and fly over rights in their quest to bomb Iran.

lloyd,
Of course he didn't do it alone, but it doesn't just take money or even family connections for this to happen. Often it is the school administrators own ego that's behind such idiots graduating from so-called good schools. I once had a drafter working for me that was a graduate of Texas University but couldn't seem to be able to add 2 and 2. I became suspicious of his claim and contacted the Dean of Engineering at Texas U and was told that often the case is the result of the school not wanting to be seen as admitting substandard students. So, just like in politics, it's better to cover up mistakes than learn from them. Sad, so very very sad.

No he is not an eloquent speaker. He actually stumbled over the fictitious word "misunderestimated"......oh well, it's going to be interesting to see what kind of entertainment material the press and comedians find in our new president, maybe he'll be the perfect one, if so, it's about time.

Indeed, the man is truly, profoundly clueless. He seems to believe that the few mistakes he has the guts to own up to were little more than PR problems. (Shouldn't have put up the "MIssion Accompished" banner--bad idea. Come to think of it, "Miision Accomplished" ought to be his epitaph.)

I hear he's planning of writing a book. Can't wait to read all about the lint in his navel. That will undoubtedly be the most insightful thing he has to reflect on.

The Bush legacy will haunt the USA forever. The damage done by this rogue administration is so far reaching , that it will be generations before it can be undone, if ever. I for one, can not see him walking away so easily. The Bush/Cheney regime should be investigated thoroughly. Surprising as it seems, there are still a lot of Bush supporters out there, who believe he kept them safe, and was the best thing since sliced bread. The Bush plan was simply to set things up, watch the results, pretend to spring into action, and use fear and propaganda to destroy the freedoms a once great nation enjoyed. Bush/Cheney have robbed America blind, and unless an investigation is launched they'll be enjoying life as if nothing ever happened.

I think these past eight years have had me confident that this country is indestructible. I know things are very bad for some people, but we've had the worst President of all time and most of us are still standing.

What I resent the most is that the conservatives never admit to being wrong. They want us to keep banging our heads against the same wall of foolish economic policies, a useless war and more. I'm glad the American people finally realized where their collective headache was coming from.

I heard a Republican economist yammering away Sunday morning about how much more effective tax cuts for corporations and investors were than silly stimulus packages that would do marginally important things like build roads or tax cuts for the working class.

After laughing for about 5 minutes I turned to my wife and asked. How does Obama expect to get these people to cooperate with anything when they are so locked into that mindset? All I can say is, thank God these people aren't going to be in charge of anything anymore. And I pray that the changing demographics here in the U.S. will prevent them form ever being in power again.

I don't think he's stupid. I think he has done a marvelous job of taking care of his "base"...that top one tenth of one percent (about 380,000 people) who control more wealth than the rest of the population combined. Everyone else he's left swinging in the wind. But, you gotta know his "base" just loves him!

Oh and did you purposely spell intention wrong? lol, you put intension which has an entirely different meaning. I'm just teasing though.... nothing close to what the President did in front of millions of people. Hehehehe

We're going to be feeling the impact of the "protections" Bush gave us for generations. Our national reputation is ruined, Constitutional protections from unwarranted search and seizure have been ravaged, no one will EVER beleive that the US doesn't believe in torture again (putting our service members at more risk from such methods), etc etc etc.

Most scary Bu$h quotes....

" The Constitution is just a God Damn piece of paper! Stop shoving the Constitution in my face! "

" These decisions would be easier if this was a Dictatorship and I was the Dictator. "

Do some research and you will find that Georgie's grandfather, Prescott Bu$h, was sending money to Nazi Germany during WWII.

I, as a Republican, look forward to Bu$h leaving office. However I'm not so confident the he will. I only hope that I'm wrong.

The Bush Fractured Fairy Tales continue. The best is that he "inherited the recession". Does he actually believe anyone will believe that? He said "I came in under a recession and I'll leave under a recession." He inherited a surplus, and there was no recession until 2001 which is a AFTER he took office. Delusional.

I watched the press conference yesterday and was simply amazed...it was like watching an episode of Bizarro World! Thanks for using that most memorable quote as your title, that's another one to add to the classic 'Bushisms' of the past eight years!

One must not forget how he made the comment about the financial crisis happening "on his watch" and not having a pity party about it...hello, McFly! It was accelarated and brought to fruition by his Administration's failed policies!

cheri, you are the poster child for political ignorance. All you have to do is some research on google and you will see this country was in a recession when W. took office. As a matter of fact cheri it was a deep recession.I know the truth means nothing to people who just hate and refuse to be honest..W. also had to deal with another problem he inherited from Billy-9/11 a war that was planned under the nose of a complete degenerate lying president.
Cheri, for 7 years W.had a great economy, won a war against terrorist, killed AL-qaeda by the thousands. To blame W. alone for the current financial mess is total ignorance of how we got here.
Barney Frank-Chris Dodd-Franklin Raines democrats all who led Fannie and Freddie down the road of toxic mortgages started the flame that destroyed the financial markets.
Devin, all W. needed to do to sound like a complete moron would be for him to just add a bunch of-ah-ah-um-um-aah-ah-ah.I will add ah-ah 2 million jobs,ah-ah-um-um,3 million jobs,or ah-ah-ah-um-ah-ah,4 million ah-ah jobs. A speech from the brilliant Obama.
W. held a bullhorn in ny city and promised the people that-the people who did this to you-{terrorist} will hear from all of us soon, and they did. Billy Clinton the great democrat president had Monica under the desk speaking into his bullhorn while the same terrorist planned the deaths of thousands of ny'rs.
Devin as the bamster would say uh-uh-ooo-uh-uh.Grow-UP!

You are speaking no doubt of the so called dot.com crash, yet another example of bubble ecconomics.
It was not a deep recession, and would have been over very soon.

Micky I remind you 9/11 happened while Republicans were in office. . . . a full 9 months after Dubya took the oath.

I am quite amused at how Republicans/Libertarians/other Conservates are reaching all the way back to Carter Adm to blame this disaster on the Democrats.
Looking at how much power the Rupublicans have had sincce Regan's first election one can come to only one conclusion.

It is futile to elect Republicans, they cannot govern
(remember,
Two Regan Terms
A Bush I Term
Two Bush II Terms
Republicans cannot govern effectively.
and like Dubya, can be counted on only to whine and blame the Dems for everything.

It is embarrassingly idiotic to say that 9/11 was the fault of a president who was in office 8 months when a degenerate liar Clinton was in office for 8 years and allowed the terrorist to attack us twice in ny city and numerous times around the world and what did the great pervert president do---Nothing-.
What did the great Clinton do to protect America,Cena,he brought in Monica. People like you are pathetic.W. was not perfect but he was a better "MAN" then "dirt-bag-clinton" could ever be.

These days must be very difficult for Bush supporters like micky d. and Rich K. I can relate to the disappointment they must be feeling. I was a staunch Bill Clinton supporter and when he shot his legacy in the foot by acting a fool with Lewinsky I wanted to go and hide somewhere.

But unlike Micky and Rich I have added my voice to those who have condemned Mr. Clinton for his betrayal to his supporters and to the country.

Rich and micky,
If either of you have an ounce of courage you should stand up and call GW what he is instead of sharing his delusion. I wonder, will you 2 continue to support this guy when he and Cheney are sitting in prison for crimes against the United States and for crimes against humanity?

So I gather you want 4 four more years. . . .

I am very happy you aren't going to get what you want.

Ok you hold Clinton responsible for 9/11
You imply Dems caused the corporate scandal melt down
You say Dems wrecked the world economy
Are Dems also responsible for Iraq and the current mess in Afghanistan
Republicans had 6 years with total control of all branches of the government.

The above is the result.
If I were Republican I would hide for a few years, but instead Republicans are shamelessly blaming Dems.

So I can only conclude that Republicans are totally ineffective. . . .

Micky you are not being truthful when you say that this country was in a recession when W. took office.

April 22, 2008

During a press conference today with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon, a reporter asked President Bush “how deep and how long will the economic recession be in the United States?” “First of all, we’re not in a recession,” Bush replied, adding, “We’re in a slowdown.”

Was George Bush not telling the truth? Or are you bending the truth?

Google "/George Bush says the United States in not in a recession" and you find the truth.

I have to agree, but I will use another word as well ... disrespectful. At a time where clarity was needed it is the last thing the US and her citizens or the world have received.

I have no doubt Bush 43 thinks he has done an excellent job as president. The thing he has failed to grasp is that no matter how he is reviewed decades from now, the harm done today is and will be immeasurable for years to come.

This stuff Rich and Mikey are saying, , ,
Just tune in Limbaugh, Hannity, LaVin, Savage plus any Conservative.
All designed and delivered in the old time fire and brimstone preaching style.
Do not think, here is the fact, listen all day, do not ever let a fact or question enter your head. Everyone who followes these guys say exactly same thing in every post, telephone call, letters to newspaper editors.
Any time a fact is presented it is immediately labeled a Democrat lie.

Look at Rich and Mikey's comments, look at all "conservative" posters and commentors(of word abuse)
All say exactly the same thing, use exactly the same words.
No evidence of facts will deter them from the hallowed mission.
No abortions
Teach bible & have prayer in public school (I am going to enjoy watching them fight the U.S Muslim citizens over which bible/prayers are to be used).
Lower Taxes for the rich
Lower the minimum wage
Kill all environment laws

And just look at the "logic" used by Rich,

Rich: "Well, they kinda did when you consider how they forced low interest lows to minorities knowing that they will never be able to pay them back."

Very good Rich, This really creates a lot of credibility for your remarks

poor people caused the corporate scandal meltdown,

How about the dot. com bubble, did the poor cause that one as well?

Very credible Rich, very credible

Good analysis, Devin.....

He didn't regret the hundreds of thousands of deaths in Iraq, or the waste of what will be trillions of dollars and over 4,000 American lives....he only regretted the darn sign on that aircraft carrier...

You are dead on Cena,
There are Right Wingers out there that make solid coherent arguments. Unfortunately Rich K. and micky d. cannot be counted among them. I'm afraid they are limited to regurgitating the talking points of the rabid Right Wing radio and TV comedians like Limbaugh, Hannity, and of course O'Reilly.

And then there is Sue B. who cannot even generate enough brain power to do that. All she can do is make lame attempts at insulting the author. Of course if she had even a scintilla of understanding of what it is I write about I might actually feel insulted. But since it's obvious she does not, I just end up feeling sorry for her.

I am not going to defend Bush, especially when I happened to see some of this. I was so irate with him when he said to the effect that even in the worst days of the war in Iraq, he found joy in those days. Now, I know what he meant, but it sounded so very insensitive. He had no business putting it that way.

One of the huge differences, and just one of them, between you and me, Devin, is that I take the facts for what they are and evaluate them according to what they are, and not by who said them. You have neither the ability nor the honesty to do that and that's why I never make any substantive comments on your posts. They're all just partisan parroted balogna, so you also have a nerve calling Rich and Micky parrots, and I can never feel sorry for someone with that kind of hypocritical gall.

I never said he wouldn't be your next president, Jerry. Learn to read and to remember who says what on those rare, red letter occasions when you can understand the content. What I did say once again, just earlier today, is "If for nothing else, I wouldn't have voted for this man just because of the kinds of low life people I saw that supported him so not to be associated. I have never seen such a group of vile, despicable sorts with no other means of voicing their opinions but to use foul language and name calling as the liberals on the Internet that voted for Obama. For me to pay attention to what someone says I have to respect him as a person first. I'm also tired of the rubbish about him being Black as an excuse. You're essentially saying that he's handicapped when, in fact, it's an advantage."

Devin,

It is regretful that you are essentially limited to spewing venom and hate for George Bush.

Your writing contains the same ole' repetitious "I hate Bush," rhetoric. They're so worn and old. Kinda' like the old "Read one, you've read 'em all" saying.

Your statement " ...George W. Bush held as president he did not disappoint those who have come to relish the mutilation of the English language..." is simply laughable coming from you, for there is no-one, dead or alive, to my knowledge, who mutilates the English language more often or more severely than you. Not only grammar-wise, but also in spelling and content. "Intension" ...Devin?

I do agree with one statement you made here..."Being stupid is not a virtue." You splendidly represent that.

Whatever will you write about when it is outdated to bash Bush? I have an idea***start with the campaign promises that Obama has ...uh ..."already" said he will have to break. AND...he hasn't even been inaugurated. He added *** he won't be able to ...uh ....do those things he talked about ...uh....on the campaign. And another***Obama also said ...uh...his campaign promises may not ...uh...be fulfilled because of what ...uh...he described as a "dire economic situation."

Duh!! Did he just learn there has been a "dire economic situation?" for some time? (Also, please comment on how annoying all of Obama's " Uh's" are when he tries to talk.)

There's a few new topics for you !!! Go for it !!!

You numbskulls just don't get it. Criticizing my writing ability does not diminish what I'm saying. Besides, insisting on spot on perfect spelling and grammar is pretty 19th century don't you think? Seriously, when all you can do is yammer on about my writing instead of the subject of the article I actually picture some sour puss faced, 19th century school marm or master dressed in black waving one of those wooden pointers around.

I'm sure you don't see your selves like that, but it's the way you come off. I don't know who you think you are anyways. I'm not some school kid trying to impress people. I'm a well traveled 50 year old man who raised a family and has a lot to say about politics and the human condition in general. So keep your snooty comments about my writing style to your selves, I really don't give a rats ass what you think.

Devin,

That response was folksy; however, it ignored the main thrust of my comment.... and provided no response pertaining to the subject of my comments... in case any part of it was directed at me.

It's hard to tell ...when your comment was mostly dedicated to calling names, making personal insults and describing how you see the commentors, in your mind's eye. To show how wrong you are (as you usually are) in your imagined tirade of your description of my physical appearance , (which is of no relevance here, whatsoever) there is a picture of me, with my son, and two of his friends in my icon posted here.

Your last comment is foreign to the subject. You strayed way too far from topic for me to be able to tell how your response was relevant to anything I said, or to whom it was directed.

My comments were about Bush, the subject of your post, and...uh...Obama, and YOUR comment about Bush mutilating the English language. Remember? You are the one who introduced the subject of mutilating a language, including writing and speaking style. It was the thrust of your original post. Yet, you become defensive when a commentor comments on the subjects YOU brought up. Perhaps you should preface your articles with a statement like...."Don't comment here if you disagree with me."

And YES... speaking/writing style, correctness DOES either enhance and compliment or diminish what one says .

It simply does not behoove you to speak of anyone mutilating a language.

The comments I made in my original post, about Bush and Obama remain unresponded to... by you. I suppose if you have no good response to what one says, you must resort to name calling and personal insults, a manner of speaking typical of you.

By the way, I haven't seen anything by you on "Human condition," just a lot about Bush. In my above comments, I suggested some new topics for you to write about on ... uh ... Obama. Might you consider those?

Your entire original comment was nothing but a "how dare you criticize my beloved Bush" rant. I've seen obtuse snobs like you all my life. Anyone who disagrees with you is somehow beneath you. Either they are less intelligent or are not as well off as you. Which to you means the same thing. Oh, I know you'll throw up a quick defense, but instead you might want to dare and look in a mirror and see what you are for real.

Devin,

I did it. I looked in the mirror. I am real.

You are an amazingly incredible individual to be able to make those judgements about me, my personality, my feelings and my actions ... from afar ... especially since we have never met. You don't know one thing about me, yet you are able to comment on my emotional and financial resources, and my state of being. That is really extraordinary... but wrong again, on every count.

Instead of staying on subject, you choose to attack me personally. From that, I can only assume you have no valid, worthwhile or pertinent response to my comments, or my suggestions concerning writing about...uh...Obama.

I believe Sue B. is correct. You just don't see the hypocrisy.

Amazing:
Devin's post is rather mild.
I don't dare write political posts,
I know I would be incoherrent with anger and rely exclusively on George Carlin's 7 forbidden words.

Devin,
look at all the conservatives you have attracted,
I might in a few days try a only semi-profane profane post against the conservatives, I could use a few points.
If I included some anti religious stuff I might earn enough points for a trip to San Francisco, it is always very nice there during the winter when there only a few tourists.

Sue really has no sting at all and her writing skills are sub-par. I think she might be one of Phll Grahmm's whiney Americans.

I can say whatever I'd like with no proof too, Cena. Doesn't make it so because you say it's so.
In fact, if there had been no sting, my initial comment would have remained with no further need to reply. Apparently, it caused quite a bit of irritation and inflammation.
"Devin,

You, on the other hand, might want to replace the comma after attracted with a period. You might want to add a comma after might, and add another one after days. You might want to delete one of the profanes.
You might want to replace the comma after conservatives with a period. You might want to hyphenate anti-religious. You might want to use a better word than stuff. You might want to place a comma after stuff. You might want to replace the comma after San Francisco with a period. You might want to start a new sentence with it, and use an upper case I. Willa "You are an amazingly incredible individual to be able to make those judgements about me, my personality, my feelings and my actions ... from afar ... especially since we have never met."

Yet you feel free to judge me, wow. The facts are my Right wing friend, if you'd like to go back and actually read my comments over the years I've been here, I never get personal unless folks get personal with me. Disagree with me all you want, hell that's why I'm here. But when you do childish things like attack my credibility because I don't meet YOUR grammatical or spelling criteria or impune my intelligence or call me a liar just because I stand on the opposite side of the political spectrum than you, I'm going to give as good as I get. And believe me, as a stand up comedian I have to reign myself in considerably to keep myself from really laying into you.

The bottom line here as I see it is that those of you attacking me personally apparently have run completely out of anything positive to say about Georgie Boy. You may think he's the best thing since sliced bread, but in reality what you are doing is defending what may turn out to be this nations very worst president. A president that brought shame and disgrace to a proud people. A president that in a new poll out today is leaving office with the lowest approval rating of any other president in our history, save Richard Nixon.

And for you dillards who are always yammering on and on about what YOU think I should write about I have a message. This is my column and I'll write about what I want.

Don't get me wrong though Rich, Mark-John, micky d., Sue B., Willa and the others. Without your obsessive attention to my articles I wouldn't be half as popular as I am.
Thank you...

Sue Buzzy stingless is correct,

My technical writing skills are dreadful. I invited her criticism by criticizing her.
I don't bother with proof reading. Not only do I place or skip commas randomly, my typing skill is very poor.

There was a purpose for it; my remark to/about Buzzy and I achieved what I wanted.

Rich, I realize you probably have not noticed, but Obama is not yet President.

Quoting you:
If they are so bad for the economy, why has Obabykiller decided NOT to repeal them? Why doesnt he pull them with an executive order. Or at least plan on ending them via legislation instead of waiting for them to expire on their own?

Rich uses this word:
"Obabykiller" To me it is Vile, intelectually dishonest. And used soley to create argument.

Rich says:

Its tough to blame the division on Bush. (unless you are an unfailry biased person)

Rich says this:

If they are so bad for the economy, why has Obabykiller decided NOT to repeal them?

Rich also says this:

Only until Obabykiller

Rich, what are you saying here?

gets his hands on the fairness doctrine. Then, it will no longer be your column, it will be the govts. And they will tell you what you can and cannot write. Oddly, you support that.
--------

Rich does not mention that he is only echoing what is being broadcast on conservative talk radio. Note that this sentence has noting to do with anything so far mentioned.

I conclude Rich is not unbiased.

Note: I personally make no claim to be unbiased. I am a Liberal.

Note to any who are not familiar with Hannity/Savage/Limbaugh/LaVin:
This kind of thought programming spews nearly 24 hours per day and every.
Savage insists he and all conservatives will be sent to re-education camps.
Hannity screams vile lies and pretends trembles in fear that his program will be cancelled.
And on it goes.

And the disciples (see above) of these broadcasters repeat and amplify all they hear.

Devin,

I'll just respond to some of your comments to me:

You said, "Yet you feel free to judge me, wow."

I never made ONE judgement on you...other than calling you out as being an unforgiveable hypocrite for blasting George Bush for mutilating the English language when NO ONE does it as well as you. There are some of your atrocities that one must just simply point out. Some have been pointed out here by others which you ignore...but which you would be wise to note.

The fact is that your writing not only mutilates good grammar, but more sinful, it mutilates facts. That is what compels some to note that. I believe you must be used to writing for the sole purpose of having those just come in to say, "Amen, Brother." I could make an analogy, but I will "reign myself in considerably to keep myself from really laying into you." (To steal a quote from you.) AND... trust me....you leave yourself open over and over , giving a person a cause to "lay into you." I'm not surprised to learn you are a comedian. It shows here. Don't give up that job.

You said, "read my comments over the years I've been here." This article caught my eye simply because of the title. I don't get to Gather often, mostly to read some of the authors I enjoy, and your articles are proving to be: "Read one, you've read 'em all." I classify you as nothing more than a "Bush-basher," who writes for other "Bush-basher's."

You claim to be "Popular." I wasn't aware of that. Just curious as to "Popular for what?" Bush-bashing? Those writers I consider popular write on a variety of subjects, but you're obsessed with Bush. You are totally biased, without objectivity and that says it all about whatever you may author.

Within a few months, you will have to change the main character of your bashing from Bush to "Obama." He is already attaining a reputation for being a gross liar ... hinting of what he will do when he becomes President...which... by the way... those hints are very upsetting to his former party allies. I predict he will be more unpopular within the next year than George Bush is today.

The "new" Washington that Obama sold to a willing electorate is quickly turning into the same old Washington that Obama claimed he wanted to "change." He clearly has broken campaign promises and has not even stepped an official foot in the White House. Further, he promised "Special Interests" wouldn't be a part of his administration, but he is sending clear messages to lobbyists that they can get a job with him. His "change" means getting the old faces into his administration that he promised to get out. Now, there is fodder for some articles.

I foresee your ""writing career " (chuckle) being very short lived unless you change the aim of your warehouses of arsenal from Bush to Obama. AND, oh yes, don't forget to elaborate on how Obama has shelved another campaign promise to slap oil and natural gas companies with a new windfall profits tax. There are many more I could mention, but let's see how you handle these.

Selected by people who are highly educated and experienced in the journalism business. In other words, highly respected professionals believe my writing to be quite good and entertaining. And I've had some pretty big heavy weights in this business compliment my writing as well, like the Emmy winning television producer and author Jon Entine. I interviewed him for his book "Abrahams Children" last year.

In other words "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT SO BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS!!!"

"If for nothing else, I wouldn't have voted for this man just because of the kinds of low life people I saw that supported him so not to be associated. I have never seen such a group of vile, despicable sorts with no other means of voicing their opinions but to use foul language and name calling as the liberals on the Internet that voted for Obama."

Yet another stellar example:

Ok you win. I cannot beat that shining example of excellent reporting. You should work for CBS, NBC, or even CNN.

NOT a classy statement for one "selected out of 3,000 highly educated and experienced " in Journalism ...folks to be a correspondent.

I wonder if those "highly respected professionals" who find your writing to be quite good would find this comment "quite good?"

I suspect the "pretty big heavy weights in this business," might just find comments like this to be quite tacky and immature.

I think Jon Entine would frown on statements of this nature... regardless of who they were directed to or why.

Just sayin'

Oh, also...you used "your" in that infamous comment. Just for future reference...that should be "you're," when used in that context. "Your" is possessive whereas "you're" related to"you are." (Just trying to help a correspondent gain some validity.)

Did you see George Bush' farewell speech today? Did you notice he didn't say,"Uh" one time? NOW... will you take aim at Obama about his broken campaign promises, prior to taking office, and his "Uh's," OR are you not done with Bush yet?

I really don't know how many political correspondents Gather chose, Devin, but let's assume they chose 6...or 100...or even 1000. If indeed, Gather did have over 3000 applicants, do you really think that they chose you because your writing was better than 2000 or more others? (God help us) Gather reviews their demographics so that they can ascertain what will be fitting for most of their readers. From the evidence of the site's intellectual population, they did choose rather wisely.

In fact, now that I give this a bit more thought, you're the perfect liberal writer for this site.

I'm just glad he is on the way out the door. Obama can certainly do no worse. I'm hoping for much better. Bush only took care of higher ups. Let someone redistribute the wealth from the bottom up for a change. The very same people who are willing to spend trillions on a war killing people in another country get hysterical about food stamps over here. The notion of democracy in place in Iraq is laughable. It is a war that will never be won.

Ok I'll admit it, I let you miscreants get under my skin and blew my top. But you must understand that my ire is not because I put any stock in your criticism of my writing. My indignation is because I know your criticism is motivated by the fact that we are on different sides of the political spectrum and not on any actual expertise you possess in the field of journalism because you don't.

Your problem comes from your childish belief that anyone who disagrees with you must be deficient. As much as I disagree with the Right, I do not automatically assume everyone on the Right is stupid. In fact, I've had a lot of very stimulating debates with Republicans who I found to be extremely intelligent. Unfortunately I cannot count most of you Righties on this thread or anyone in the Bush administration among them.

I've got bigger fish to fry right now but just one parting comment to my antagonists. If you think for one second your pathetic armchair critique of my writing is superior to that of the professionals here at Gather then you are delusional beyond hope.

Rich, "I have a better idea. How about everyone works for what they want to have."

Does that include the corporations that are collecting five dollars in welfare from the government for every one dollar being paid to actual human beings?

Good for you Rich, at least YOU are not a hypocrit when it comes to what you stand for. It's the Republicans that defend corporate welfare while deriding it for people that make me sick...

Devin, not that I actually expect much from you, as you have yet tom prove any skill in research or understanding of information. But the fact remains, I do attack both sides as needed, and I don't have much respect for either.
Bugt the fact that someone without any skills in the mental department calling themselves a reporter, or close to it, does bite my hide because they just spread smelly crap everywhere.

What's wrong Dan? Were you one of the spoiled sports who applied here at Gather and was rejected? But talk about lacking skills in the mental department. You don't even get what it is my mandate here at Gather is you moron.

First of all I am NOT a reporter you idiot. I'm a correspondent and there is a huge difference. But of course I wouldn't expect you to understand that because that would take at least a basic understanding of the world of journalism and you do not posses any. Secondly my mandate here at Gather from the beginning has been to write political "OPINION" articles based on my own personal views.

But for you to constantly rag on my abilities to conduct research or my ability to understand information is the biggest pile of steaming scat of all. Just the idea that you think I need to prove anything to a pip squeak minnow like you is laughable to the extreme. You defend George Bush for crying out loud. Hasn't it dawned on you yet that your guy is going down in history as THE worst president in our history. That he will most likely end up in prison for the crimes against this country and the whole frickin world.

Sorry Dan, but anybody who continues to keep their horse hitched to this guy just cannot be taken seriously.
