Yesterday, the Carpenters Union endorsed Edwards.
"Our endorsement is based on the Senator's outspoken support for all of organized labor and his focus on America's working families," said Carpenters President Douglas J. McCarron. "In addition to his support for labor, our leadership was particularly impressed with the Senator's strong stand on trade."
"We also believe that Senator Edwards will have a great appeal in a general election," McCarron continued. "He has the ability to reach out to moderate voters, including the members of our union, and to address their very real concerns about jobs, health care and the economy."
Their formal endorsement will come on September 8th, at a rally in New Hampshire.
On Labor Day, the Steelworkers Union will endorse Edwards at a rally in Pittsburgh.
Edwards has made support for unions a key feature not only of his campaign, but of his advocacy for many years before his campaign. I'm glad to see the unions are recognizing his work. These endorsements are well deserved.

The Steelworkers union has many affiliated groups and is very large and diverse! Edwards is the perfect choice to drive their issues. This teamwork is going to make things happen!
More union endorsements isn't the way. He needs businesses to give him their endorsements.........like Microsoft or General Motors. That's how you get to the White House.
Nevertheless, I'm glad you agree with me that John Edwards believes in rewarding hard work. Check out this video of him speaking out against unfavorable trade agreements like NAFTA at the Steelworkers forum earlier this year.
In both parties you need money, and the unions don't give like big corporations do. He just doesn't have the finances unless he appeals to a few of the big ones.
Can't you read??????????????
Good for him, he is my choice for 2008!
No candidate today can get elected without big business money - even Bill Clinton had piles of it. If he alienates big corporations, he's through.
Maybe he should just keep his morals and refuse big business's money.........and be happy with 4th place.........
