With the Gonzalez scandal looming over the Bush administration and the unbelievable denial that anything is even wrong, I don’t think anyone could find even a Republican who would say this White House is not out of control.
High crimes and misdemeanors. That’s the criteria for impeaching a president and this correspondent is convinced this one is guilty as charged. So what crimes are this president guilty of? Here’s a list.
1. The manipulation and unlawful interference with Florida’s election process in 2000. Yeah, I know the supreme court, with none other than Clarence Thomas (hand picked by daddy Bush) leading the charge, was able to clean up the mess and virtually appoint G.W. president. But who could ever imagine that this will go down in history as anything other than the successful theft of the White House.
2. They did it again in 2004 by manipulating the election in Ohio, where the attorney general (the person in charge of the election) was also one of Bush’s top campaign officers. When history reflects on activities like throwing out ballots in heavily Democratic districts for being printed on the “wrong” paper, it will be viewed as another successful theft of the presidency.
3. The handling of the Katrina hurricane disaster. If having a president reducing an agency like FEMA to the level of sub-division of the Department of Homeland Security is not a crime, then it should be. Scratch that, the entire handling of this disaster was criminal. And it’s still going on for Pete’s sake. One of this countries most recognizable cities lies in ruins years later and this president still doesn’t get it.
4. The Iraq war. Even prominent Republicans have called President Bush’s handling of this war criminal. And anyone who believes that sending our troops into a war without proper equipment and armament is not a criminal offense, then I‘d have to call them accessories to the crime. “You go into a war with the army you have, not the one you wish you had.” Donald Rumsfeld. This indicated the administration KNEW they were putting our precious military personnel unnecessarily in harms way and did it anyway. This was a criminal act pure and simple.
5. Lying about the reason for going to war. If a president lying to the citizens of this country is not a crime, then it should be. It’s bad enough to have a president lie about things like his military service, or whether he had an affair. But when one lies to us in order to take us to war, he is a criminal and should be removed.
I could go on with more crimes, but I think I’ve made my point. This man and his ilk stole our countries highest office and has used it to promote the Neo Con agenda. Which as we now know has been detrimental to our nations military and to our international reputation. It is not enough to simply wait out the clock. This administration needs to be slapped down, and slapped down hard. If we do not punish these criminals, we only leave ourselves vulnerable to another despot willing to do anything to use the power of this country for their own agenda.

1. Manipulation of the ballots...You mean like Gore trying to get all the absentee ballots of active duty soldiers thrown out? Or are you just saying that to try to gloss over the fact that every recount done since the election shows Bush won florida sorry that dog won't run anymore.
2. That sounds eerily similar to all teh voted cast in St. Louis by dead people, coincidentally almost every single one for the Dem candidate.......I guess ghosts are liberals...
3. Katrina; Do local and state government bear any responsibilty for the safety of their own citizens? How is it that so many people refused to leave their homes despite repeated warnings to do so? Do they not have any responsiblity for the consequences of their action or lack of action? ( this is rhetorical, I realize true liberals believe no one is responsible for themselves. That is the job of government, and why they need to take more of your hard earned money to give to someone else who didn't earn it so they can buy their votes.....After all where do you get off thinking you are entitled to what you earn? The Dems will decide what to do with your money, you just spend it foolishly anyway...
4. The fighting of the Iraq war. Here we have some common ground but not for the same reasons. It was not a well executed and thought out war plan. But once again liberalism reaises it's head here. We now have to fight nice and fair wars. No fair using all the weapons in our arsenal and overwhelming the opposition with staggering force so powerful that they realize to continue fighting is suicidal. No let;s fight an Islamic friendly war.... You want to kill our marines from a mosque?? OK we won't fight back. Use a hospital and a military staging point?? Well we can't bomb there now can we? We might hurt innocents... The fact is it would not be us who is responsible for any damage or casulaties. It would be those who have so little regard for their own religion and fellow countrymen that they would put them in danger by putting them in the middle of a battle zone. We could have been out of Iraq Years ago. But we would have had to be really really mean and then people would be mad at us......We did it the nice way.....made lots of friends huh?
5. Lying about going to war..........This is the most cynical and disingenous of all. Because we warned and threatened and asked the U.N. to talk sternly to Iraq and then talk sternly to them a second time, and when that failed tell them if they didn't comply there would be another very stern warning for years. Because we literally gaven them almost two years notice we were coming, I suppose it is beyond the scope of reason, to assume they would have done away with most of the evidence. BTW there were several hundred tons of chemical munitions found early on. But let's not let a trivial thing like a fact derail you.
Carolyn, I don't think we can afford not to. The way this administartion is mucking things up, we'll be lucky if we have a country by Jan. 2009.
Wow, just change the names and what you just said is almost verbatum exactly what a lot of Dems were saying when you the Rep's tried to impeach Clinton. How does it feel. Anyone who continues to defend this administration at this point needs a CAT scan.
No, it's the bleeding heart, ultra liberals who don't want to impeach, cowards. In case any of you are wondering, I have even less love for the extreme Left than I do the extreme Right.
Hmmmm good question.......How did the military so powerful and superbly trained and equipped in Desert Storm fall into such disrepair in the 9+ years in between?? Who was the Commander in Chief during that time? Who slashed military budgets like a lawn mower on a golf course, in order to make his budget numbers look nice???
Oh that's right!! NOW I remember Bill (I did not have sex with that woman and my all time favorite "that depends on what your defintion of is is..") Clinton.....Now you have the balls to blame Bush for that too? Shameless
Does anyone remember the Nixon administration? The current scandal-after-revealed scandal haunting this administration brings back chilling memories to me. Once again, a (Republican) president seems to be trying to build an Imperial Presidency. Bush has even used the tactic of saying that those trying to find out the truth about his underlings' actions were going to somehow demean the office of the presidency by doing so. Huh?
However, I don't think we'll actually impeach Bush, no matter how much he deserves it. The ENTIRELY politically-motivated impeachment of Clinton has left a bad taste in the nation's mouth.
You don't impeach a president for not obeying you; you impeach a president for not obeying the law!
Wow. And who would be in Iraq now? And were would the millions of innocent people be?
Who in the Republican party, other than Sam Johnson, agrees with you and is willing to say it publicly? Have you considered how things might be today if Bush would have finished the job in Afghanistan instead of pulling them away from Tora Bora and sending them to Iraq?
Now that the shoe is on the other foot, it is the Republican's crying 'foul'.
Who's playing partisan politics now?
Stupid shitheels. Look at what your incompetent GOP misgovernance has brought this once-proud nation. Stop defending this bunch of criminals and their war against the middle class. Stop swallowing every propoganda line that your rightwing media rams down your throats. Stop being so Goddamned lazy, and start researching some of this stuff on your own. F'cking idiots.
If you don't think the people responsible for the massacre of 9/11 and those who either actively or passively supposrt them are barbarians, yet in a post shortly prior tho that have the unmitigated gall to accuse our soldiers of atrocities then you are truly among the lowest of the low. My family has for 5 generations served, I will not have my patriotism questioned by the likes of a self-hating, flag burning, Anti-USA maggot like yourself. Now you are claiming to have some time of first hand experience in Central America? I doubt it. The only way you were involved down there is if you were Daniel Ortegas butt boy.
As far as what Iraq had to with 9/11, let me explain this as slowly and simply as I can. I know slow witted Ultra left wingers like you have a hard time understanding big words and compound sentences. Here goes.
The WTC massacre (that means killing a lot of innocent people at once Mikey) was a loud and clear wake up call (apparently you hit the snooze button).
The Islamic extremists are at war with us and all non-muslims.
From the perspective of Islam this war has been ongoing for over 1000 years, as far as they are concerned the Crusades of the Middle Ages has not ended, it just quieted down for awhile. They, historically speaking, have always taken a long term view of this war. The ultimate goal of Islam is a MONOTHEISTIC (look it up) world, controlled by religious zealots (that means fanatic)
Now here is where you have to try to connect the dots.... I'll go slow so you can take notes.
This is not a war with a country or that is contained within geographic boundaries (those are those squiggly lines on the map Mike). But the major focal point is the Middle East. Therefore, (so that means) we require a strategic base of military operations that is tactically nearby or within this "hot zone"
The reason we did not attack Saudi is simple, even the dimwitted like you Mike should grasp this. First they are one of the few Arab governments that we have a decent diplomatic relationship with. They also are one of the only countries in the area that has historically (in the past) allowed use of their airfield. The Saudi royal family is great shakes but they are first and foremost businessmen who understand, to some degree, that attacking the the biggest guy on the block and antagonizing him, while he remains one of your best customers is not smart business. SO I guess if you want to you could say that this war certainly has a component within it about oil. Oil availability is no unimportant thing. It is and will remain, unfortunately the achilles heel of this country for a while yet. How did like last summer when gas went up near 4$ a gallon? Think that was high? If the Middle East decided to stop selling oil to us within 12-18 months hundreds of thousands if not millions of Americans would die. Our economy would collapse and the Great Depression would look like mild hangover from a big friday night out. So when your simpleton friends start the "No Blood For Oil!!" chant, they say it as if it is something not worth fighting for. In fact it the ONE thing that would guarantee and swift and devastating military response. If you want to argue that we should not be petro-junkies, I have no argument. But ubtil we wean ourselves off that petroleum based energy, it IS necessary to protect it's continued flow.
The other reason we didn't go after Saudi, even though most of the hijackers were from there, is the same reason we didn't attack London after they caught Richard Reid the the wannabe shoe bomber. Reid was from London, but we were pretty sure Buckingham Palace wasn't behind it. Just like the Saud royal family was not involved with the camel f***er bastards who wiped out over 3000 Americans one morning.
I know in your slow moving, thick headed mind, we (proud Americans, not you Mike) are worse than than these cockroaches. It's ok Mike. The people who will stand up and defend this country, not only through military service, but through other means as well, we don't ask you to join us, (truth be told people like you make us nauseous and are an embarassment to us) we don't even ask that you support us, but get the f**k outta the way. There are two sides to the debate. You can frame it anyway you want, and try to spin it and waffle which something spineless slugs like you are masters at. In the end it comes down to this.
Do you support this country, culture, civilization and genral way of life?
or option 2
You support islamic terrorism and the deliberate targeting and slaughtering of innocents?
Which side are you on Mike??? Put up or shut up. Answer the question and don't dodge.
They have submitted a new tax bill!!!!! Yay!!! that will help. I gotta hand to these leeches those. These are not your run of the mill bottom feeders, no sir....The highest tax increase in the history of the WORLD!!!
$900 BILLION tax increase over the next 5 years. How democratic, shut up, go to work, give us your money and we'll decide it how it is spent...... Yep that's the party for the people....... Somewhere JFK is rolling over in his grave, muttering, "You SOB Teddy what have you done to our party, you drunken fat slob???"
Does anyone for one second doubt that if this increase somehow manages to go through that before 2010 there will be another one because of "revenue shortfalls"??
Of course we need this money to pay for the free medical care we give to the 20 million illegal aliens so many lefties want to adopt and give amnesty to. As a matter of fact why not just round it up to and even Trillion?? what's $100 billion between friends???
You guys are almost there. If this goes through anyone making over 75,000 a year will be giving Nancy Pelosi and her band of merry thieves almost exactly half of what you earn each and every day. They will then gladly redistribute that money to Pedro, juanita, Miguel, Jose and all their little ones, so they can secure their votes for the next term................and around it goes
I really don't know why I bother.... A few more years and I'm buying the boat and heading south....
Oh, by the way, I've reported your vulgar comments to the management here at Gather. I don't mind debating with folks on the Right. But your kind of filth is not welcome and will not be tolerated...sir!!!!!
One look at any conservatives ratings will tell you that liberals on Gather actually do vote on politics. Regardless, ratings are anonymous, so not sure why you are so sure it's me.
You see why you delusional wingnuts get mocked so much, and why nobody takes you seriously these days? You live in little bubbles of fantasy and myth.
Btw, the housing market is on the verge of collapse, manufacturing in this country is a thing of the past, the wealth gap between the upper 1% and the lower 99% has never been larger, the nation is nearly $3 TRILLION further in debt than it was in 2000, Osama is still on the loose, the anthrax killer is nowhere to be found, our "great pals" in Saudi Arabia not only continue to fund terrorists, but are also funding Sunni insurgents who're killing Americans, our borders are still open, our ports are still open, our nuke plants and refineries are still unprotected, our military is decimated and all but broken apart, we're mired in an endless and tragic catastrophe in Iraq that will likely cost us $2 trillion before it's finally over, the white house has decided that violating federal and international laws is their duty and obligation, the justice dept. has now become a political organization assembled with the sole purpose of ignoring fraud and corruption by republicans and chasing after democrats who've done nothing wrong, we now have an entire segment of the population that thinks that treason and obstruction of justice are A-Ok, just as long as it's being committed by republicans, and oh, btw, there WAS rampant GOP voter fraud in 2000 and 2004, and Al Gore actually won in FL in 2000. (It was in all the papers, but the "liberal media" somehow chose to bury the facts in the 18th paragraph of the article).
