Here is a HUGE list of magazines that you can get for FREE! *new mags added/list updated 07/23/09*

If you've ever wondered how to get quality reading material for FREE, then you've come to the right place.

As some of you may have read, I have a very good friend who is incarcerated so one way I'm able to help him is to send him subscriptions to magazines that he likes to help him pass the time. I've been digging a lot online to find different titles to send to him & since I've come up with a pretty huge list... I figured I'd add photos, descriptions and organize them a little bit so more people can utilize the freebies I've found.

Some of these magazines come directly from the source while others are offered by a company called Rewards Gold. Usually all it takes with Rewards Gold is a quick survey about a product (I've tried to find links that bypass the survey entirely but I wasn't able to do it for all of them) and your mailing address. There's also a company called Value Mags that offers free magazines from time to time.

Other magazines will be sent to you courtesy of Freebizmag or Mercury Magazines and they work when you provide them with information about your line of work. Then they match you up with free 'business' magazines. Sometimes you get great offers right off the bat but other times nothing pops up that you like. With them though, as soon as something appealing does become available... they send you an email and you get the first chance to sign up for it.I have been a member with them for years now and have received so many magazines from them that I actually had to start giving them away!

So... here is the list I've created so far and as I find more, I'll add them to it. Have fun everyone!

Advocate - 1 year *Rewards Gold*

Advocate magazine is written for gay men and lesbians, presenting the events and trends that define gay life in America. Advocate magazine gives you all the important news and reports on all the issues of most interest to the gay and lesbian community.

Jennifer - Glad you got the Lego one for Gideon! My middle son gets that one and he really likes it, he's 7.

The magazines that are offered by Mercury Magazines or Freebizmag are a tad tricky especially if you're a stay at home mom. You might be able to get away with entering information for places you volunteer at, just a though. When I was working in the dental office I received a lot of health related magazines through them and then when I was doing daycare I got family ones. Now that I'm doing photography I was able to snag the 'American Photo' magazine and I'm really excited about that!

I used my own terminology to get the photo one... Like for business name I put Household Manager and it took it... On the part where you select your trade, I put Creative and Support I think... Homemakers provide creative support when it's needed so uh yeah it worked...
Thanks so much Faith!!! I had seen the Lego one somewhere online earlier today and all it posted was an 800 number which is now crossed off of my list of things to do tomorrow...

No matter what I put Mercury won't let me select American Photography. What am I doing wrong?

I'm sorry, Lesli! The magazines offered through companies like Freebizmags or Mercury are kind of tricky because they look for people who work in certain industries... but I've heard on other forums that sometimes all it takes a simple reworking of the drop down menus to get it to show up for you. I haven't had any problems myself, but I've never tried to get magazines that aren't in the 'industry' I work in... specifically photography at this time for me. I hope it works for you and I'm sorry I don't have any better advice. :o)

I had the same problem with the photography magazine- it won't let you click on the box for that magazine to select it.

Also, the Psychology Today magazine must be looking for something particular because after I filled out all the info;, it said "Sorry, can't find any applicable business magazines".

Thanks anyway!

And I saw a couple new ones that I think Matt might enjoy. He always needs mags to read when he travels.

I've tried to get him into books, but alas, it's a lost cause :/

What is a pain is when it asks you a bunch of questions and then it unchecks the original magazine you were answering the questions for. I cannot get Cosmo to work. It unchecks that one, but wants to sign me up for a few other BS mags. Ah well.

That sucks, Robiyah! I'm sorry... I've had that happen to me before too, it's so annoying. Let me see if I can find another link for a free Cosmo subscription and I'll get it added to this post.

that is great, but, my wife thinks that all that paper stuff in a house is a fire catcher if your house should catch fire or get near something that will catch them on fire.

Good list. I may check out Town & Country. Meanwhile, you're a good friend for doing this.

As an aside, I wanted to ping you but since you have that feature turned off I'll leave my message here:

Cortney - sorry you can't get the Marie Claire one to work... sometimes if you fiddle around with your job description/category it finally allows you to select it. I'll send you an email about it.

You're welcome Lisa, Alicia & Brian.

Nancy - glad to hear you've used Free Biz Mags before and like it.

Thanks for the list, I was able to get one mag, but the others that I tried for won't let me because of the industry - even though I tried to fake it. I wonder what industry you would need for the women's magazines and for the teaching magazines. I tried fashion, retail, and education, but none would work :(
