I have great hopes for President Obama!

I'm hoping he does great and keeps all his promises :) It would be wrong to wish him badly, because he IS the president for the next 4 years.... atleast...

I think it's going to be hard for him to live up to the expectations.

Of course the "we" and "the people" in that quote were the male property owning white protestants. It didn't really include the Irish or those Germans that Franklin wanted to just go away and it obviously couldn't refer to the slaves and the idea that women were really people had only occurred to a few radicals. Catholics were most likely Irish and would only try to have the Church take over the government so they couldn't be included but we, the real people, the important people, the significant people, yes, we demand our rights.

I don't think its possible for anyone to live up to the expectations that the media has created for President (well in a few hours) Obama. As to living up to campaign promises we already know he will not and cannot follow up with them.

George I wish Obama all the best and hope he will be an enlightened leader and have the courage to do what is best for the people and ignore what he can of the special interest groups. I'm hoping that America is back.

I hope he can turn some things around and lead us back to what we once were. He has a big journey ahead of him and I hope for the best for him and his family

I hope he Wants to lead the country back to the Constitution. I still don't trust that slick talking politician. I hope I am wrong.

I also, I got up very early to Gather, get housework done, a take a nap so I can watch it.

I am in sincere hope that he has some serious plans to change things here in America. Just to have our vational regard restored to other nations would be a great start....the last 8 years have been a travisty. I know there is a lot of hype to live up to for this man....he have to be like SuperMan to do it all...but I hear he preferes "SpiderMan"....Go Spidey Go!!!!!!

One thing that we can be sure of is that he won't be lambasted by the press like his predecessor, regardless of success or failure. Good luck to him, and to all of us as well of course.

You mention Dr. Martin Luther King, a black, fundamentalist, evangelistical, old school, fire and brim stone preacher. I can refer to him that way because that was his theological leaning and the theology that he brought to the table when he spoke on human rights. I will admit I am not an expert on him but I can honestly say. Now, I can apprecaite the history here but would sugest humbly that you carefully conect OBAMA to that great preacher. That great reformer of the traditional church, is as much a hero of the church, where OBAMA is not. I am certain Rev. King would congradulate President OBAMA even though he is not the first black president for his amazing victory but I doubt he would appraove of his use of $110,000,000 of tax payer money to finance the collective emporer worship the American people currently have. Also, I doubt, that Rev. King would be overly pleased with OBAMA'S political views...seeing that King, if he had remained true to his gospel tainted views, would not have voted for him. I doubt he would jump the fence just because OBAMA is black. Just a thought...

I'm hopeful that we get the change we need.

Today was a great day!

I was truly happy as I watched the Inauguration yesterday.

If we could channel all this good faith of his supporters, and have them LEAD Obama, instead of follow him - that would be the best day ever.
I've posted many articles on Obama, but would like to cut to the chase.

I support ONLY those who support The Constitution of the U.S. and abide by it, and support the return of all our rights, as noted in the Bill of Rights.

If, his first order of business, were to repeal the Patriot Act, and the dozens of other bills which stole our liberties and freedom - I'd be on board 100%.

He won't do that because he voted FOR them or was deliberately "absent" or "did not vote" to advance his political career.

Second, he would be President and not a usurper if he provided ALL documents requested in multiple suits - some still pending before SCOTUS. (see my most recent article).

I have always been a "proud American." Despite my sense of nationalism, I feel a positive energy flux in response to the election of President Barack Obama. I have not felt this sense of electricity about an American president since President John F. Kennedy. Although they display some differences between them, they share important features as well. President Obama, like President Kennedy, is a bright, hard working, gifted orator, articulate, optimistic, and service-oriented person. Certainly, President Obama's being a person of color is inspirational. Lest we forget, I believe that it is important that the founders of our country bitterly battled over the issue of slavery, to the degree that we almost did not arrive at an accord neither on the Declaration of Independence nor the Constitution. I thought it was strange, despite being raised in a family of Archie Bunkers, that even though we accept as a part of our national identity the basic concept that "all men are created equal," we tended to elect, for the most part, the truly economically privileged, white, aristocratically positioned individuals to the office of President of the United States. I dreamed that we might live up to the promises that our national statements present to the public, such as, "Anybody can become President of the United States." Even as a child, I knew that this was far from the way in which our country operated. Now I can feel pround that our adolescent nation has risen to the challenge of being willing, as a majority, to view all persons, not just men, as being created as equals. Congratulations to the new president and the American people!
