Compare the Differences in Obama's and McCain's Health Care Plans

I have read both plans in detail and cannot figure how anyone can call Mc Cain's plan worthy. It seems to cause more problems than we have now. If you are barely scraping by now without health insurance how does he figure a $2500 write off is going to help when a real policy normally will cost "me" $6 to $8000. The deductible will put me back farther than I am now.

Write-offs won't help pay for the premiums. And if you've lost your job, which my husband has, COBRA coverage is expensive.

The differences are obvious, McCain is just trying to pull another scam that will tax people even more than they are now and I really think Obama cannot put his plan into action at this time because of the economic conditions we are in and as the economy keeps failing his plan may never be seen in our lifetime. To have corporate based health care you have to have companies that employ people not just talk and we have no jobs left and will not have an economy of any kind without jobs.

I am continually annoyed by people who compare plans by other countries to ours. They tag it "socialized medicine" and then go about explaining how bad it is as if it's the ONLY way. I'm sure this country can come up with a workable plan that would be fair to all. The secret is to get the insurance and pharmaceutical companies out of the middle. The only people making money are the middlemen, as usual.

McCain is once again showing his ignorance about the issue. He is well cared for and has no idea what health insurance is all about. He also has many options but I'll bet he doesn't go to a VA hospital since he can use his other government program. Wonder why he doesn't want the common person to have government programs. They're OK for our congressman, the poor and disabled, the elderly, but not for middle-class citizens. We get to pay the bill for everyone else, it seems. (and Medicare and HMO's are NOT what they're cracked up to be)

Thanks for posting the information, Carla. I worry the most about the high prices of health insurance if nothing is done to restrain the costs from increasing. Independent insurance was a joke when my father owned a restaurant. Luckily he was covered under my mother's insurance through the school she works for.

This really makes me think about the debate even more. McCain's health care idea is really dumb. My family and I enjoy our benefits and my sister was recently sick with a bad case of whooping cough. McCain would've taken away our good coverage. But then again, how do we know if Obama's idea is all truthful? I begining to reconsider my side which I have taken. McCain's idea will defintly lower the polls for him. Thanks for posting this and not keeping me in the dark.

No way I can support McCain's plan I majored in accounting in school and his plan is bad news!

This is the number one reason I'm voting for Obama! Right now medical insurance premiums are eating up 20% of our yearly income.

We are broke already, I can't afford McCain! Too many working families are teetering just above state/federal assistance levels. Seems better to help families with health insurance and a bit of a tax break, than risk them falling into the assistance programs. Wages have actually fallen in our area, for many skilled workers. The classifieds in my local paper, have listings for welders at 10-14 dollars an hour, and the state wonders why people don't want to go to school to be welders....lol.

Robin, I hear what you're saying. My husband lost his job and I need dental surgery. We're holding our breath and doing a lot of praying.

We on Medicare are also in trouble. We switched our supplemental plan last spring as it was costing both my husband and I $240 and month and his former employer, the educaitonal system was paying an additional $120 for each of us. We were on a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Plan that paid for most things including 80% reimbursement for drugs. At $8640 a year plus Medicare taken out of our social security each month, it seemed like a lot of money.

We switched to a Health Net Program after reviewing several available plans here in AZ. Lo and behold, we received the 2009 update this week and all services except a few have doubled. Doctor visits that were free are now costing us money, special services have doubled as have ambulance fees, xrays, Urgent Care etc, etc. Why? I don't believe all medical costs have doubled in the past year. So this means the insurance companies are going to be getting more money to provide the same service.

Do we need a new health policy in this country? You bet we do! I would much prefer to pay more in taxes and get decent health care than pay the insurance companies to deny me the same.
