Fun video. I think it's interesting that McCain's strategy of the week is no longer focused on Obama the terrorist. This week it's McCain the fighter and populist. I wonder what it will be next week.

Oh ... my ... God.

Holy @#$#.

Am I going to have to get a gun and form a militia to defend the candidate of my choice? I had no idea they were THAT desperate or would sink to such levels. Isn't inciting to riot against the law??? Sheesh.

The word on the street (I got this from my informant Gummi Bear) is that Grampie McSame is "defintely going to hit Obama HARD" tomorrow night on Ayres. He claims to have a complete strategy worked out for this debate and it will be a clear and decisive victory for their campaign.

Have you seen the Gather ad about McCain?

"Who is worse at restricting choice than Bush?"

Then it flashes.

"McCain/Palin."

I have always felt that Obama was placing himself in even more danger than usual for a presidential candidate by virtue of being the first black candidate to come this far. Some media voices are beginning to think ahead to the consequences of fostering violent ideas on the campaign trail, but I shudder to think of what his assassination would to the country at this point in time.

I think McCain and Palin should buy 30 minutes of TV time, hire a Priest and sit inside a Confessional and tell the viewing public why they are acting more disgraceful the Bush> That's a hard feat to accomplish, but they actually found a lower road.

I don't see anything fun about this video, Nippy. I think it is disgusting. The damage is already done, as you can see by the ignorance expressed here on Gather. His fans will continue to sow the seeds he and his cheerleader tossed out no matter how many times they flip flop on the issues this week. THIS is what matters to those people and the fact that it does should matter to all decent people and encourage them to "do something". His campaign is teaching volunteers to do this and it is unacceptable.

Barbara, those people almost make me want to own a gun.

Nick, I think that is wishful thinking on someone's part. I can just picture McCain swinging his stubby little arms in an attempt to hit hard, but I can't quite imagine him getting in one good punch.

He won't do it Fab D, because this is exactly what the "fighter" wants. He only pretended otherwise so he could absolve himself if one of his mob actually went too far.

He isn't an honest man.

Fun video? I disagree; it's downright scary. John McCain, his glamorized pitbull and his campaign are fast becoming a national disgrace. Once you unleash that demon, can you really get it back on the leash?

I just created a new lens (page) on Squidoo.com. Of course, it's pro-Obama but it also addresses this issue. I hope to compile a complete list of "Lies and Innuendoes" with the links to show them to be just that.

Lainie, I haven't seen that ad but will look for it.

William, I'm sure he'll buy 30 minutes, if he can scrape together the money, but not for that purpose. Obama has bought time and McCain has copied everything he has done so far, right down to adopting his campaign slogans, policies, and hiring his own celebrity. First, he makes fun of it and then when he sees that it went over well for Obama, he does it himself, obviously not caring how ridiculous he looks.

Gerry, I've thought the same, as have others. His willingness to take that risk makes me admire him even more.

I did see that ad, Darling! Bet some people wandering around here in search of a clue don't care for it! ;)

Sandy, I think the fact that McShame doesn't put a stop to this not only speaks volumes about his character but it's just that much more substance to my continuing allegations that he's an unethical, sniveling little coward completely lacking anything remotely resembling honor. I'd even go further and suggest that he's behind the "Terrorist Strategy" judging just from the Palin clips. You'll note she has difficulty stringing to words together unless the two words are "Domestic Terrorist".

Sick, dishonest and inherently evil. And the fact that they could get that many unthinking people to mindlessly follow and rile up some bloodlust is an example of demagoguery at it's peak. It damn sure BETTER be at it's peak. That tired POS needs to move along now....we don't need Bush lint pickens in our "hallowed" halls of government.

Doyle I <~~~~~

Sandy....everyone should read the Rolling Stone article (your link)...both McCain supporters and Obama supporters. I posted a link yesterday but I suspect even those few who posted comments did not take the time to read Tim Dickinson's article, "Make Believe Maverick".
It is a real eye opener.

It is always a sad, sad thing to be confronted with hatred and potential violence. It makes me physically ill. It's like seeing those films from the 50's and 60's with people shouting at each other, using racial slurs. It reminds me of that picture of the white guy in Boston during the busing riots trying to spear a black man with the American flag.

What kind of leaders intentionally try to bring out the ugliest and worst in human nature?

What kind of leaders intentionally try to bring out the ugliest and worst in human nature? Great question, Sheryl. One we should all be asking. This man doesn't even belong in the Senate. He should go home now and never come out again.

I agree with every word, Doyle. Ann, I agree that Palin should be flogged, but won't separate her from McCain and the party. I believe they are behind this and she is a senseless pawn (which doesn't absolve her from her share of the guilt).

Michael, I hope everyone will read it, too. We can just keep putting it out there and hope.

Sandy, I think the video is hilarious. I have a twisted sense of humor. It doesn't mean that I don't deplore McCain's strategy from last week. I don't think being able to laugh at the absurdity of the McCain campaign's lies and innuendo makes me a bad person. Naturally I'm a little prejudiced in that regard.

If you cannot see that, then there is truely something wrong.

The fact is that from day one of Obama's candidacy, he has been the fragile glass figure that no one dare criticise. Just ask Bill Clinton. We are now on the verge, and probably will, elect an empty suit to the presidency without any legislative accomplishments nor the experience necessary to lead this country out of our crisis. If there is a silver lining, 2012 isn't that far away, and the liberals who elect this guy, will not be heard from.

Kay (& Snowy Cat) If you bring up ACORN you are just sounding stupid because it's all a lot of vague indirect hot air - and GOD BLESS organizations to help the poor (as imperfect as they may be). And Bill Ayers? - So Obama knew lots of different people - cool. A Liberal Arts education gets you even worse - super cool !!! Jeremiah Wright? - What does anything he says have to do with the price of rice in China ??? Yeah, Obama helped the poor and knew A LOT of colorful people. Someday they'll make a musical about him that outdoes Mame - super dooper cool !!!

After reading the Rolling Stone article that Valerie sent me? It's clear what McCain is. He is the lowest form of life on the face of this earth.

He should be excluded from being classified as part of the human/animal species. Then again, is it fair to any species to classify him in it?

Sandy nailed it: how do you put that genie back in the bottle? McCain/Palin are running possibly the most despicable campaign imaginable. Obama, he says, is "other," not like "us" and therefore unknowable and therefore dangerous. It works for the uninformed, the intellectually lazy, and the bigots, and there are plenty of all of those out there. Palin pretending that sitting on a board (along with prominent Republicans) with Prof. Ayer equals hanging out with "terrorists" is designed precisely to incite fear and hatred -- and it works. So the political/cultural divide deepens, and America is the worse for it. Reason enough not to vote for these two; they stand for "Country Last."

First let me say that I am NOT an Obama supporter...just to make what I am about to say clear.

The difference in what McCain/Palin have done to incite hatred, bigotry and possibly violence and what Obama/Biden have done to incite hatred, bigotry and possibly violence is as wide as the Grand Canyon.

Some Obama supporters have printed vulgar Palin t-shirts and have done other things that reflect low character, but they did so WITHOUT the encouragement of Obama. Not so with the Republican effort which has spread hate and veiled racial slurs as part of their campaign. They, McCain, Palin and their "handlers" set our to slander and defame Obama and to incite the hideous behavior of their supporters.

A couple years ago for Xmas, my daughter gave me a yellow coffee mug with bush's stupid grinning face complete with devil horns on it. I use the damn thing every day. If there is a Satan, that's his picture.

Now as far as Ms. Moosey being referred to as a Republicunt, do you all forget who her running mate is and what word he has used to describe his own wife? I just figured that is the word for woman in Republi-speak.

How did the Republicans smear McCain in 2004? They said he had a black child. WTF? When I first heard that shit, I thought, "why's that a big deal?" A quick reality check later and I realized what kind of people would find that an "issue." Sometimes, I allow myself to forget there are still people in the world who stare at a mixed couple and their kids.

People- in this day and age, after all we've been through, there are STILL parts of our own city Wil and I won't go to or if we must, we leave quickly because it's obvious we aren't welcome there. Surprise, these aren't the poorer neighborhoods or the ones that are predominantly black. These are people who find my daughter charming until they learn her father isn't Italian or she has never been in a tanning bed. Racism has found its home in whitebread America.

My neighbor and I were discussing yesterday how we do fear for Obama's life because of the racist and bigoted assholes that run around this country. These are your Republican voters! It's takes a special kind of social retard to take a Curious George doll with an Obama sticker on it to a rally. Those ignorant people saying he's a Muslim (like that's a horrible thing) or he's a terrorist because he's got the bloodlines- those people are here in Ohio. Now I know another city to stay clear of (Strongsville.)

Didn't the assassinations of our youth wake these people up? Don't they know poverty doesn't know a color? Don't they know we're on this planet together?

About keeping the genie in the bottle:

Ever since a certain shape-shifting Hungarian political party lost at the polls in 2002, its leader has been talking about "taking people to the streets" to resist the "traitors" and "not-real-Hungarians" (the other main party, of course) who defeated them. He's been winking at right-wing extremists (to the point that enough people got disgusted to lose them the next election as well, giving the other party an unprecedented second term); he's been talking about forming "civic circles" that can be called into action when needed, and one of his men even mentioned smelling gunpowder in the air. There are always people ready to hear such messages. Here's one of the results. (Note that the march had been taking place for almost a decade without any problems, until the Neonazis got the message that their day had come again.)

(Response by the would-be leader of the revolution: [Poker face lost for a second--All of that happened? Molotov cocktails? Vehicles on fire? People in hospital?--Midly confused expression] "All right, folks, violence is not the answer...")

Sheryl asked: What kind of leaders intentionally try to bring out the ugliest and worst in human nature? And of course we all know the answer to that one: Adolf Hitler. The whole National Socialist strategy was based on deliberately stirring up the basest elements of German society in the '20s and '30s. The Neocons who have hijacked the Republican Party are no better than those brownshirted thugs who roamed the streets of Germany's cities beating anybody they thought looked like a Jew, a Romani, a Slav, or a gay.

And now Aniko's shown us the resurgence of that in Hungary. And it's here, too - we certainly have our own armies of jackbooted skinheads plaguing American society. But what was most disturbing in Aniko's video was the man with his daughter riding on his shoulders with his face contorted in hate yelling at the gays in the parade. That's the real problem in this country - the seemingly banal, everyday citizen suddenly turned werewolf because certain forces in the country are stirring up our shadow selves and turning them loose on those they hate. If you can't see the dreadful similarity between our current political environment and the political environment in Germany in the 1920s and '30s, then you're either blind, not paying attention, or complicit.

Give me a freaking break please! How someone can compare a t shirt to condoning violence and hatred? Thanks for the video Sandy. I was going to say something like "yeah, there's radicals on the left and right both do hateful things" Obviously they are here with us on gather.

Lisa, I never thought so many people would be willing to actually admit that they condone or enjoy this behavior. It makes me sad to know they are around me. The people in this video are scary. And, have you been to an Obama rally to see the difference? Everyone is happy, upbeat, optimistic, ready to work hard . . . the difference is drastic.

I agree Sandy. Today Obama mentioned McCain at a rally and his supporters started booing. Obama put a stop to it. No yelling "kill him" or any of the other nonsense coming from the Conservatives, just booing. Obama stopped it and guess what, his supporters listened. McCain can't even lead his own supporters.

I agree, Roy. And than man was not the only one who protected "family values" by taking his children to an event that consisted of yelling obscenities and throwing stuff at people (including the police, who were trying to protect the march).

Of course the skinheads' favorite chant "Fags into the Danube, and the Jews after them" comes pretty close on the disturbing scale. How that's not actionable incitement to deadly violence, I don't get. (This is what "into the Danube" refers to.)

One final question. Can any Obama supporter articulate why they are voting for Obama? And please, leave out George Bush's name, I know that makes it tougher for you to answer, but try and just stick with Obama's qualifications for president.

That's the difference Kay. Obama is a good person and he is a natural leader, calling us to our better angels. I'll leave the contrast to you since you want George Bush's name left out of it. Works for me. If I never hear his name and all it stands for again, it would be too soon.

Sandy! Thanks for that link to Jared's ACORN article. I had to laugh: McCain with an inane grin on his face ready to deliver a speech to ACORN, which he supported as recently as '06! Now ACORN has become the whipping boy for the Right, screaming about "voter fraud" because some of its zealous young volunteers had fiddled some names. Although no one, including ACORN, condones this kind of thing, we all know that "voter fraud" is a code word for the GOP drive to disenfranchise voters. It's the only way they can hope to win an election these days.

Sorry, that's off the subject, but it is indicative of McCain's shape-shifting on issues large and small in his quest for power.

As long as Palin, this supremely unqualified, uninformed little village pol, is on the ticket and a heartbeat away from the Big Job -- no one should be bringing up questions about qualifications.

Sometimes I think that McCain will be secretly relieved if he doesn't get elected. He can then go back to the Senate and work on repairing his tattered honor. He's left so much of himself behind since starting his run.

Kay,
It's not my job to explain to you why I support the candidate I have chosen. What I will say is that I vote the issues that matter to me. I happen to believe that my candidate of choice has a better economic plan, energy plan, education plan, healthcare plan, and an idea of what diplomacy is. That's just the top issues. I could go on and on, but I won't try to convince you. It's pretty obvious that we have different outlooks on how our citizens should be treated. I'll leave it at that.

Kay, you are either disgustingly dishonest or shamelessly honest. You have left your stupid comments all over the place on articles where Obama supporters explained the many reasons they support him. So, you either drop you shit without reading, can't comprehend what your read, or you are just an idiot who thinks it is funny to disrupt conversations. Which is it? Are you shamelessly admitting that you don't read, or disgustingly thinking you might fool someone with your stupid question?

Kay: "Can any Obama supporter articulate why they are voting for Obama?"

Energy, energy, energy. McCain emphasizes nuclear energy and domestic drilling. Obama emphasizes renewables. Two major solar compaines, First Solar and Nanosolar, are ramping up production in Germany, because Germany is committed (policy-wise) to renewables. So Germans are getting the manufacturing jobs - not Americans. That will change with democrats in charge.

Bill, isn't that McCain/ACORN video fun? The man is as shameless as Kay and it is equally fun to see him step in the mess he makes. After what we've learned about him during this campaign, I don't think he belongs in the Senate either. I hope the people of Arizona fix that problem soon. I really do not think a person changes at this stage of the game; I think we are seeing the real John McCain for the first time. Much of what I've discovered isn't anything new, it just wasn't important to me to find it until now. What makes it important now is that he has not changed. Fake smiles, whispered words, and a feeble attempt to pretend he is trying to quiet the anger his campaign is teaching people to incite do not cover the nasty.

Sandy & Lisa.

I really think that Kay is closer to Obama on issues than McCain - at least as I read her comments prior to Obama's nomination. Kay and I (I think) were both Clinton supporters, and I can tell you that the bitterness between Obama and Clinton supporters was nearly the end of both of them - a potentiality not lost on McCain. I think I understand Kay's bitterness. I always said I'd support the democratic candidate, whoever it is. I have done that. I will not only vote for Obama - I have and will send him money. I would urge you, however, to realize that the conflict with Clinton supporters is over. You need Clinton supporters - especially voters like Kay.

Kay. You and I have agreed on many issues before. I want you to stop, and listen to what Hillary and Bill Clinton are saying about this election. It is too important not to.

Hillary Clinton:

I am honored to be here tonight. A proud mother. A proud Democrat. A proud American. And a proud supporter of Barack Obama.

My friends, it is time to take back the country we love.

Whether you voted for me, or voted for Barack, the time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose. We are on the same team, and none of us can sit on the sidelines.

Bill Clinton:

Hillary told us in no uncertain terms that she'll do everything she can to elect Barack Obama.

That makes two of us.

Actually that makes 18 million of us - because, like Hillary, I want all of you who supported her to vote for Barack Obama in November.

Here's why.

Kay, you asked why I support Obama. Here is part of the reason. I will add that, even if I had been a whole-heartd supporter of the the McCain-Palin ticket, I would not be voting for them after the bile they have spit out recently. In my opinion, that behavior is absolutely unacceptable in any elected official, certainly anyone wanting to hold our highest office.

This video is much to do about nothing. I did not see McCain react one way or another. I also know there are "plants" in these crowds to incite violence and spew the negativity towards both sides. I DO NOT condone supporting any violence - either way, or racism.

Obama has the links to terrorists - no denying that. The ACORN crap should be enough proof with anyone willing to keep their minds open. His "global" ties are very concerning - his initiative to deal with global poverty, with our tax dollars = BILLIONS and costing even more than the illegal bailout (which was nothing but hype to control our financial markets).

A gun will be necessary regardless of if it is Obama or McCaon. Martial law is upon us. Don't you keep up? I don't trust EITHER to lead us out of the NWO or stop the NAU. It's in their pledge to the Council on Foreign Relations.

How does that help Obama? I can't tell you how difficult it has been for my wife to "get over" Clinton's loss in the primaries - heavy identification there. She still does not like Obama, but she's going to vote for him. I wish you could find it in yourself to react to bitter Clinton supporters the way Obama does. This race is far too close to do otherwise.

Hey Jerry & Don. I don't listen to FAUX News, let alone report for it.

FAUX and old media, are run by statists. The newspapers a hundred years ago, as bad as they some were for yellow journalism, weren't generally run by statists.

The modern myth of "objective journalism" is a new thing. Especially back during the Founder's era, papers were open about what ideas they supported, what they talked about and reported, etc.

As statists took over papers here in the last decades, they took pains to hide their biases because Joe Average still retained some belief in American ideals. The news outlets started to say that they are *cough* "objective" and must tell "both sides" (i.e. only their side) of a story. That's just a nice way to present one's biases while trying to look superhuman (unbiased).

It's very Newspeak, but when you (1) don't want to speak plainly and (2) re-engineer what people think, that's what one does. You don't speak plainly. You don't explain yourself clearly. You don't use reason or logic. You work on people's emotions. Fear, guilt, wanting to look good --- even love, charity, devotion to one's children, etc. can be twisted and manipulated relatively easily. You call love hate, and hate love. You say surrender is victory, slavery is freedom, freedom is terrorism. You say that "only [insert bad or scary adjective] people do [insert good, uplifting, or noble thing]."

Anyhow... as much as people complain, they're assuming that the news mongers really have an interest in journalism as they portray themselves. They're businesses run by people who are at times very open about their mission to "make a difference", i.e. change society. The business part is nothing but keeping people's eyeballs on their material so they can sell advertisements. This is not bad in and of itself, but people who think they're getting an "objective" product are deceived.

There is no news blackout. They're simply doing what they said they would. Publish stories to get eyes on their stuff (ad revenue), and to remake society in their own image ("make a difference").

When one looks at talk radio, the successful people (such as Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, or Rush Limbaugh) are very open about their biases and opinions like the newspapers of yesteryear.

People tend to trust these sources more because they know what they're getting. People listen repeatedly because the content is first and foremost entertaining, which brings the ears for advertising revenue.

Contrast this with the "mainstream media" which is openly biased but denies their biases. Their power has been eroding steadily, in part because of the eroding trust.

So, if you take biases into account, then the news makes more sense. (At least to me it does.)

For example, one will not hear about NAU, NAFTA, etc. from people who support statism because it's unpopular with the average American.

What possible reason would they have to talk about something unpopular that they agree with? It would stir up antagonism against that which they support. This to me is a reasonable explanation of why we don't see this stuff on statist media (AKA "mainstream media").

It also explains why it's not only talked about, it's torn apart by people like Michael Savage and Glenn Beck. They don't like it, and want to stir the hearts of Americans who don't.

Steve, if you are asking me to be kind to people who continuously repeat incorrect information or purposely disrupt conversations with their childish behavior (like Linda, Kay, Candace) my answer is no. How I deal with them neither helps nor hurts Barack Obama but refuting their false information might influence intelligent people who come to read.

I tell them what fools I think they are for my own benefit. It helps relieve the anger I feel every time I see them lie, spin, and distract.
