Yesterday we had a full day of traveling to Pinjara, Dwellingup and Holyoake, all communities in the foothills of the jarah and kari forests southeast of Perth. All places, that at one time or another, Magi called home.
Our last stop was the Nanga Rapids and swimming hole on the Murray River where Mag swam during his childhood.
"You want rocks, Bob? You'll love this place", he said smiling as we drove down to Lane Pool Regional Park. Over the last two weeks, Magi has kidded me about all the rocks and wildflowers I can't resist taking pictures of. Nevertheless, knowing what I like to do, he keeps bringing me to these wonderful wild places where flowers grow profusely and water f
alls over rocks.

The wildflower bacon and eggs.

A wildflower shadow!

Nanga Pool and the rapids.

Some brave souls

At this point, Mag gave me the "thumbs up"......we took our pictures, it's time to go.

But I wanted to do one more thing before we headed home.....take pictures of this incredibly old bridge spanning the Murray River.

"Hey Mag, time to go home....it's getting late. What's taking you so long? Haven't you seen an old bridge before?"

Looks like you've got another feature here.
Sending you both warm hugs.
Thank you very much, dear friend.
Many more pics to come ... we have shot about 3,000 of them.
He is a great guide. Although he knows I love all the natural places, we do tour all sorts of things like Boy's Town, New Norcia, Fairbridge, etc.
One thing I wonder about. With all this walking, are you two falling off to skin and bones? I still get tickled that Magi is on foot. I thought he would never agree to walk there for a while. Can't believe you haven't been in a hot air balloon yet.
Yes, we are tramping and trudging here, there and everywhere ... and I've had to punch another hole in my belt - but what the heck! However, a hot air balloon sounds very good, indeed.
You two are getting some awesome photos. The flower picture way up that the top would look so good on the wall. And those water pictures! I kept looking for alligators! And closing my eyes and peeking.
Up north of West Oz there are both fresh water and salt water crocodiles. Here down south we make do with white pointer sharks, snakes ....
Thanks so much for sharing with my group.
Magi, the friend in question's name is Kate Daniels (and we used to call her K8 the Gr8; she used to jokingly call herself Queen Katherine of Arrogant!). I don't know if you ever met her when she was living in the area, but apparently she was a long-time resident of Freo and surroundings. She mostly lives in Malaysia these days.
Alas, I don't know the lady - the West Oz population is now just over two million and Freo has its share of people.
I like the different bridge shots.
I may have to go on a shadow hunting expedition after seeing that wildflower shadow.
There lots of rocks and a very sad story
about a brilliant Kiwi engineer
who brought water to Kalgoorlie
by Pipeline from the Mundaring Wier
I'd tell you much more
but I'd probably tell it poorly
Read it at Mundaring Wier
or the Musuem in Kalgoorlie
The names of goldrush history
"Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie"
survived due to O'Connor
who was treated rather poorly
To see indigenous people living a traditional lifestyle means traveling far too many miles from Perth, so it's not on the agenda for this trip by Bob.
love you both
