The Samuel Morse estate, while a wonderful historic site, also boasts some of the most beautiful gardens in New York's Hudson River Valley.

The flower beds are just overflowing with beautiful blooms...

Amazing colors...

...and light.

The gardens provide a home for birds...

...and butterflies...

...and bees.

There's also an amazing heirloom vegetable garden which demonstrates gardening techniques from various time periods in the history of the estate.

Unfortunately, despite the best of care, the gardens still fall prey to garden pests such as beetles...

...who chew their way through both leaves and blooms.

Heartbreaking. And yet...

...still the garden blooms!
