hey, i was there in '72...don't remember all the cool stuff for sale, just tent after tent of beer...and all of us sitting around, weaving side to side, singing the "Bier brost toast"
it was much fun...:)

That's so cool. The fairgrounds are huge. It felt like we were walking forever looking for a restroom during Oktoberfest.

My husband spent a few years in Germany while in the Army and he loved it. I've only been to one Oktoberfest and it was a blast. I'd love to visit the country some day......especially in October.

I was drawn to this post because I lived in Munich for a few years, running an Art Consulting firm. There is an art market, by the stuff you see in the flea market has nothing much to do with the kind of work you see in the galleries downtown.

I lived in Germany for over a year. The Spring festival is mostly about wine, white wine, The Octoberfest is more fun because it's much wilder, probably because many people named Carl attend, and is many about beer, buxom women, tuba bands and food. I attended two and literally crawled home.

Flea markets, beer, toasting, and brats??! And now I hear wild times, Carl's, more beer, buxom women, tuba bands and food as well! I can only thing, Why am I not there!!!!?? My kind of party to be sure, needs to get on my list of places/things that are must do's, lol. Silly old me, always would have thought Oktoberfest to be in my month of October!
