DETERMINATION

Watching wildlife brings so much joy to me!
This photo was taken from my upstairs bedroom window. I put out lots of food for the deer, but instead of eating food out of the bowl, this guy was determined to get the sunflower seed out of this birdfeeder! I guess that he wanted something to challenge him that day!
Several people have asked me why I feed the deer. One reason is that I think they are very beautiful and graceful creatures! Watching them jump and glide over a fence is just breathtaking! Another reason is that I feel we have taken so much land away from them! More and more houses are being built, taking away their natural habitat!

On the flip side, Ohio is having problems with deer. The population is exploding, jumping by more than 40 percent since 1998 to an estimate 575,000!
They are now beginning to have special deer hunts to help decrease the population! My feelings are mixed on this subject. I'm not for killing animals, but at least some groups are using the venison to feed the needy! More information about the deer population can be found at:
