I love this painting. I have always loved tall ships and the sea. This gorgeous painting reminds me of these lines from one of my favorite poems by John Masefield:

"I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,"

Curt, you are incredibly talented. It's always a pleasure to see your paintings.

Hi Jerri! I did for the basic layout, then used heavier brushes to build up the texture.

Grand painting and poem, Curt! Intimations of Errol Flynn in swashbuckling flair, or Erich Wolfgang Korngold's "The Sea Hawk." Visual and poetic gifts are freely given voice here. In three lines, you assemble a vision of oceanic majesty that does not fade. There are waves in this piece which span the distance between heaven and earth, in colors which are indelible. Observed by the eye, caught by the mind, stretched into existence by virtue of a simple brush!

Lovely haiku and painting.
The painting somewhat reminds me of an old print I have of the ocean.
Just the waves and the sky---it's one of my favorites.
