A while ago I posted a photo essay about our walk at Devil's Lake. This is the second half of that essay - The setting sun portion. Since there were so many photos I decided that a second essay was warranted. You can view the first essay here.
As I had mentioned in the first half, the sun was basically non existant during our visit. Though it did succeed in peeking through the clouds now and again.

On the way back we peeked out over the open areas to see what the scenery looked liked on the way back. What we saw was one of the prettiest sunsets we had ever seen. The sun had made it's big debut for the day just in time to set over the bluffs of Devil's Lake.

The sun was still in the process of setting when we made our way to this dropoff to photograph it. You can see a faint hint of the sun's warm glow on the lake below.

This is looking toward the South shore.

The rocks you see is where the other trail we hiked it located. I did an essay on that about a month ago.

Then the sun got to the stage where the beautiful golden hues come out.

The next couple photos are quite dark and dramatic, and they remain among my favoritesin this set.

We could not stay too much longer, so we snapped as many photos as we could before we had to continue back on the way home.

I noticed how the sun reflected off of the rocks and thought it warranted a few photos.

I snapped a few photos of Gideon alight with the golden glow of the setting sun. I quickly snapped two more of the rocks glowing with the same golden glow before we went back down the trail and home.

This was our first time up in the bluffs and let me tell you it was beautiful. If you ever get the chance to see it set up in a bluff by all means do watch it.
Thanks for sitting a spell and watching nature's beauty with me at Devil's Lake!
