COPYRIGHTING PHOTOGRAPHS

Good Morning, ALL! Just wanted to write a quick note and see if I can get some input on copyrighting photographs.

My love has always been photography and art. I would love to do photography for a living. However, "real life" steps in the way and I have to have a full-time job.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone can throw some info my way on copyrighting of photographs and how to go about it. Any info would be great and a direction to point me in would be great, too.

Put your name on the photo---In Photoshop you just select the text tool and type your name right on your photo, then select the move tool and put it where you want it. Other ways is watermarks but have not done that as yet. Another way is to put the copywriter symbol the circle with a "C" in the middle along with your name.

When you upload your photos, you can right click and go thru a bunch of options (set date, time, COPYRIGHT) I always copyright everything as soon as I upload it, my name, date, time - down to the second, then I usually send the photo to myself. That way if anyone ever steals it you can say-- hey I have that- with the copyright!!
But Ronald also brings up a good point, if you put your name on the photo you throw on the net, nobody can take that from you..

Also if you google "copyright photography" there is a bunch of stuff that pops up, one to an online photography lawer, I personally have never delt with him, but never heard bad things from it either..

I'd be interested in knowing what program T Cheri uses to upload her photos with that copyrighting feature! Watermarks are good, although hiding your name and the year, at least, in a corner of the photograph can be just as smart.
