Last Saturday was forcasted to be a cool fall day with sunshine. What we got was a cool fall day with skies threatening rain. Even still we ventured out to Devil's Lake as planned... gloom and all. Unfortunately the skies overpower the natural beauty of the place, but I hope it still shines through a bit. We will return tomorrow in hopes that the forecasted sunshine and weather come our way.
The entrance to Devil's Lake is a magical path twisting and turning through a canopy of leaves in their autumn spendor. There's even a small stone wall around portions of it. Sadly I was unable to get a photo of this spot as there were a great deal of cars behind us. I'm determined to get one tomorrow though one way or another.
Once we got to the shore the gloomy day loomed over us and dimmed the photos. In the distance you can see some hints of fall foliage. I'm not sure why, bt the leaves around the shore always are the last to change in this area.

Gideon was delighted to find these snail shells.

We sat on the shore for as long as we could handle, took a few photos and made our way to the Tumbled Rocks trail. The trail is about a mile long and takes you along the lake from the South shore to the North shore and back. It's mostly paved, but there's still some treacherous areas and narrow walkways.
This is a log at the beginning of the trail.

A tree along the side of the trail.
Some sort of orange fungus found on a tree along the trail.

The South Shore at last!

Looking back at the trail and the lovely foliage before heading back to the North Shore and home.

Thanks for taking a walk with me under the gloomy skies. Thankfully the rain didn't come along as well!
